Twitter, from @BaylorMBB re-tweeted by @chadfordinsider or Chad Ford (ESPN):

"Wow. I'm stunned RT @BaylorMBB Perry Jones III announced Monday he WILL RETURN to #Baylor for sophomore year"

That's big for him. I expected him to declare. He comes from a family with very little money and his mother has a medical condition that is pretty expensive from what I hear.

Apparently he wants to get a good education. :jimlad:

Talk about overrated, especially with the talk of him being the #1 pick. Dude needs to put some more weight on and develop some decent offensive moves.

Uhh..the guy is 6-11 and runs the floor and jumps like an athletic guard. This guy has a better ceiling than Amare Stoudamire. He would be a top 3 guy.

Meh. He's athletic as hell but lacks basketball skill. I know the NBA drafts on athleticism and potential but he just doesnt do it for me, just IMO.

The thing that drives you crazy with Jones is his motor. All those skills you speak of, like a mid range game and putting the ball on the floor, Jones can do. You can see it on film, but he has no killer instinct. If he can find that over the summer, I will not be happy to have him back in the Big 12 next year.

I agree, he reminds me of Marvin Williams who was drafted #2 out of UNC by the Atlanta Hawks ahead of CP3 (#3) and Deron Williams (#4).

Jones has all of the tools, but seems to lack whatever it is that causes him to use the tools and be a dominant basketball player. While I have no doubt that whenever he decides to come out he will be a high draft pick, I personally wouldn't want him on my team.

I also think Jones' decision to stay is more shocking than Harrison's rumored decision to stay.

He's going to stay at Baylor for as long as it takes to learn how to spell "P-e-r-r-y J-o-n-e-s".

Williams was the very same player who leaped to my mind as well. Honestly, when I hear the name Perry Jones, my first instinct is "Who?". Definitely needs another year in school to develop some offensive moves.

This should be a huge indication as to how nasty this upcoming NBA lockout is going to be.

So if you are an NBA fan (go Spurs), enjoy this post season, you may not see professional basketball again for a long time.
