Anyone read this about him? Guess he commited at 15 years of age, and the mother accepted improper benifits from some John's guy. Was suspended to end last season. You ask me and its a little sketchy and doesn't add up. If his family needed money so bad and are in such bad shape why not go to the NBA last year? Just seems awkard and fishy to me.

I hope this is how you post a link:

The story behind Baylor Bears star Perry Jones III -- men's college basketball - ESPN

I saw this article a while ago. I love how his people are upset that people say he plays soft. I'm sorry, if that bothers him he should stop playing soft.

Crazy story though. I'm happy he's going to be able to make some bank next year. If nothing else though he cost himself some money coming back. I do hate when that happens.

He certainly has all the physical tools to be a star. And he has a pretty jumper, too. He hit that little 15 footer from the top of the key a couple times, last night. If he can put together some consistency, he could have a nice career in the NBA.

True. I think he'll be a better NBA player than a college player. He can play in the league as long as he want to. Skilled, physically talented.

Long article, seems pretty obvious the AAU coaches have ways to get money to prospects which has been happening for years, the extent of it? Who knows. Which big 12 schools offered money directly? They don't seem to understand how the game is played

Great article. I think you really have to feel for kids that are that young and have a lot of tough choices to make. His family, his mother's health problems, the Universtiy of Baylor, Scott Drew, and going to the pros, even if you feel maybe you are not exactly ready for it. The weight of the world is on that kid's shoulders and he's certainly not ready for it.

What is it with emphasizing the III and going to Baylor? Would we have been confused if they just said "Jones?" But they always said "Jones the Third" I am a Jr. And no one has ever added that to the end of my name. Hell, even Cal Ripken Jr. wasn't always called "Ripken Jr." during announcements and by play by play people during a game. It actually was one thing that bothered me about RGIII was that he actually put the III after Griffin on his jersey.

I was just wondering if there was something I missed in the last few years that you have the add the third to the end of everyone's name now. Or is this a Baylor thing. Since RGIII, everyone is going to add it to their name in hopes of getting more air time. I believe there is a lot to a name, and it was driving me nuts last night that I kept hearing "Jones the Third" but I have to admit, it stuck in my head and I probably wouldn't have given it two thoughts if they'd just said "Jones"

Did I just answer my own question?
