I kind of agree with this.
We should all be proud ISU stepped up and named the stadium after Jack.
In addition, we should all be very proud of Clay Stapleton and the Dirty 30 team.
They were going to play OU in Norman for the conference title. When they checked into their hotel all the white players were assigned rooms. The black players were told they could not stay there, and must seek different accommodation. Stapleton said, if that was the case, the team would return to Ames and not play the game. Famous OU coach, Bud Wilkinson, was brought in. He got the hotel to allow the black players to stay there. Stapleton was willing to cancel a chance for the title to do what was right. (I am 95% sure I have the facts correct. Note: ISU lost the game)
I think ISU, OU, and Mizzou would have all tied for lead at 4-2. Mizzou beat ISU that year, so even with a win not sure ISU goes to Orange over Mizzou (Mizzou was selected over OU because league had a rule against consecutive bowl appearances I believe).
