14 of our top 25 all-time recruits (since 247 started tracking it, which is at least back to 2002) have all come under Coach Matt Campbell. Those include 4 of the guys committed for 2020 (Dekkers, Jackson, Bouman and Pauls). Obviously, CMC gets a lot of credit but I think also a lot has to go to his staff. As a team they are finding these players and getting them here and then really teaching them how to play their best football. Great time to be a Cyclone!

Any CEO is only as good as who they surround themselves with.

Bold are since 2010.
Black and bold is Hoiberg.
Cardinal and bold is Prohm.

A big test will be what he does when he loses some of these guys to bigger positions. He kind of dealt with that when Manning left, but he didn't actually hire a new OC.

If someone like Heacock ever leaves (god forbid), the way he is replaced will be a true test of Campbell's abilities.

I guess you can say replacing Candle with Manning was an initial test before he even coached a game, but I'm sure more are coming.

How far back does "all time" go for BB? Must not be last century since no Fizer.

The best recruit of modern ISU recruiting and the most underrated all came in for McD(Wesley Johnson being the latter). How he was so bad here is mind blowing.

Chris Colvin was such a huge bust. Taggart too.

I expanded the list to the Top 25 quickly.

Looks like 2003 was the first year.

Not sure I would call Taggart a bust. 1st big off the bench for National runner up Memphis as rSo, Was one if their better 2-3 guys the next year then left for The pros. Don't think he got drafted.
Didn't do much for ISU but I thought he was injured or sick to start the season. I just remember him being super skinny and gangly.

I would not be surprised to see a lot of promoting from within in those situations.

If “all time” only starts in 2003, is this because recruiting data from earlier years is unavailable or incomplete? If not, where would Cyclone recruits from earlier days rank, players such as: Alexander, Smith/Abdul-Aziz, Ivy, Grayer, Hornacek, Holberg Fizer, Wesley Johnson, Tinsley?

Hornacek was walk on & quickly put on scholarship and Wesley Johnson didn't have much for offers beyond ISU.

No idea -- but not sure there was the systematic ways of evaluating and ranking guys back then as there is now. The 247 database only goes back to 2003 for basketball.

The 247 database for football only goes back to 2002.

They seem to have a knack for identifying talent early and not being shy about pulling the triggerly early. This has helped us with a lot of recruits once the big boys came calling and some of them stuck with isu.
