MLB: Peavy to the White Sox???

ESPN Insider is full of ****...they say a million trades might happen. Read the article about Peavy unsure if he wants to play for idiot Ozzie Guillen. He doesn't want to be south side trash.

Yeah...I knew it would take about just that long for a jealous Cub fan to start a pissing match! Whatever...

He will not be with the Padres much longer.

Agree...if anything, the White Sox might have upped the price for Peavy. Obviously any team that gets Peavy will be better than they were before the potential trade...he is as good as any pitcher out there right now that is available.

What about Jenks? The rumors involve Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda and 2 other players...wow

As long as Gordon Beckham is not in this trade...the White Sox have to do it! The Central is up for grabs for sure...Peavy would certainly give the White Sox as good a chance as any other team to win it! Then if they would make the playoffs...Peavy and Buerhle would be a damn good 1-2 combination!

It would make all the sense in the world for the White Sox to pull. They're in a weak division, it might only take one more good pitcher to put them in the playoffs.

Most teams in the playoffs have an excellent 1-2 combination. Rays, Red Sox, and Yankees all have arguably better 1-2 punches. Rays, Red Sox, Yankees, Twins, White Sox, etc. all have bullpen voids they need to fill between now and the trade deadline.

I agree...the division is not as good as people thought it was going to be. Any team in the AL Central that got Peavy would put themselves in a very good position!

I understand that...and agree. But if the White Sox won the Central without Peavy...think of that playoff rotation! Yuck! It would be a short series...think of last October...

No doubt I would love to have Peavy...throw in Danks getting back to normal and Colon staying healthy. Agreed about Beckham.

and yes, I do realize the Rays are 4th in the East right now, but don't count on them staying there. East is loaded and I don't think Toronto has the pitching to keep up. I don't think the Rays have the offense to keep up with the Yankees and Red Sox pitching. White Sox and the other teams in the central need to play to win the division because I'd bet right now that the wildcard comes out of the East. This trade, pending they don't give away everything and the kitchen sink, is a no-brainer.

And the chances of Colon staying healthy are about the same chances as Carl Pavano staying healthy. :wideeyed:

LOL on the Colon comment! I watch him walk off the mound and just laugh at how big he is! And big in a way that is not a compliment!

If I had to bet...I might bet the house right now that the AL wild card comes from the East...

It's possible, but very out of character for Reinsdorf who has been reluctant to give long term contracts to pitchers.

I believe Peavy has a limited no trade contract and he could force the acquiring team to guarantee his option year. That would leave 5 year contract at $85 million.

Sox did a long term deal with Buehrle, but I'm not sure Reinsdorf would add another contract like that.

It would be out of character for the White Sox...and I am not getting my hopes up at all. And if the White Sox are in on Peavy...I am sure there are many other organizations calling SD right now thinking they can get Peavy as well!

Good idea...cause it's not going to happen.

It says within the article that Peavy has reservations about playing for OG and would rather stay within the NL.

My take - Towers is a shrewd GM; he's floating the "close to a deal" rumor to get the sweepstakes heated up...
