The content that I provide is the same for both.
However, we have noticed over the years that there are two very different kinds of users on the site. There are lurkers and there are folks who like the engagement of the forums.
If you like the "news" to come right to your email, do Patreon.
If you enjoy the banter of the forums and that type of a community, do the premium.
