After the thrashing we put on Iowa last night, I've had hawk friends text me and say "You guys shot out of your mind" and "you won't shoot like that every night". I've seen the same thing written on hawkeynation. I went and looked at the numbers and our shooting from last night was pretty much our season average. We do shoot like that every night. We shot 53% last night.

In our 8 games we have shot 51, 48, 58, 29*, 52, 64, 46, and 53 percent from the floor. Good enough for a 50% average on the year and 16th best in the country. If you take out the Maryland game we are averaging over 53% which would be good enough for 4th in the country.

This team can flat score with anyone and what we saw with Maryland was a fluke. With the number of shooters we have on the floor every night, it will be very rare to have a night where all 8, or 9, or 10, or however many guys throw out there, have an off night.

Go Cyclones! Going to be a fun year.

Yeah, I agree. Our shooting against Maryland was a function of our lack of movement and passing, though we still missed a lot of open shots. It was a great lesson learned.

The thing is if we only had 1 or 2 good outside shooters on our team then it wouldn't be possible for us to shoot like that every night. We have 5-6+ guys on our team that are excellent shooters so as long as 1-2 of them are hot on any given night we can continue to shoot like last night.

I think the thought is we won't shoot like that from behind the arc. I don't remember anyone forcing a three, so yes we will shoot like that when we have uncontested shots.

Yeah, most Iowa fans either don't realize or are to homer to admit that, outside of last night being a rivalry game, last night was just another night at the office for us (outside of us missing two of our best players).

Watching Kentucky-UNC right now. My opinion is Kentucky is the only team in the nation we won't beat on any given evening (and that's without McKay). But, if we're shooting the way we're capable, we can give them a run for their money on any given evening.

There were a couple of forced shots at the end of that 21-2(?) run when we pushed the lead up to 25 that they forced a couple of 3s trying to put the nail in the coffin. Other than that, yeah, they were all quality 3s.

Agreed. I just hope we don't end up in the same region of the tournament as Kentucky. We always have bad luck with having to play the eventual champion early on.

We may not shoot like that every night, but we will still be a better team than them every night

Georges and Thomas didn't shoot well, BDJ shoots its pretty good...maybe it won't be the same guys but we're never going to be short on shooters.

What is truly amazing about our shooting % is if you look at many of those teams above us, they play much more of an inside game - not many of them shoot the number of 3s we do.

Remind your sad Hok (sorry for the redundancy there) that we could have shot 45% and still throttled them. We out rebounded, out transitioned, out defensed, out shot, out swaggered and out coached them. I am sure they won some part of the night and I will post here as soon as I think of what that might be.

Yes, I noticed that too. Very impressive.

The hawk fans I know have no idea who is on the roster @ ISU. They know Niang--and that is about it.

The fans @ Carver are about the dumbest mbb fans you'll find anywhere

Then it's likely we won't see another post by you in this thread.

Odds are, we'll be the 4 seed in Kentucky's region. Sweet 16 matchup.

Nader was the real wild card, and I think Iowa looked at the 0-9 from outside for the season and figured they didn't need to cover that guy....

Less turnovers. 7-10.

5 of them came during the 26-2 run.

Funny that your buddies forget to mention the circus shots Iowa was hitting in the first half. Iowa was playing the first half like it was their superbowl but our talent and chemistry showed strong and won us the game..big time.
