OU v BU

That was a peculiar sequence. I thought the targeting call was exceptionally bogus, since it was clearly shoulder to shoulder. I think they overreacted to what was really just a dramatic hit.

But in the end, at least ISU can feel somewhat validated from the blowout in Waco. Baylor completely dominated the Boomers tonight. It wasn't just about a fancy, souped up, spread offense either. THey were carting Sooners off the field all night. No doubt at this point. As Denny Green reportedly said one Sunday in the dessert, THE BEARS ARE WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE!!!

With Stanford pounding Oregon tonight, the Bears should move up a notch or in the BCS. A big win over a notable program like OU will make believers out of the right and left coast media types. Two more ranked oppoenents in the next 2 weeks will only help. Then if Texas holds up their end, a major showcase Big 12 championship on the same day the larger conferences play their championship game. Winning out would put Baylor dangerously close to NCG.

This, as a conference it would be huge to have a game relevant to the NC. No way Baylor jumps FSU or Bama but if one of them fall and it came down to undefeated Baylor vs undefeated Ohio State, I think Baylor gets in, pending that last game with Texas is for the conference title. The B1G doesn't (deservedly) get much move love this year.

Do you think the b12 deserves much this year? Texas dominated OU as well and they got rolled twice this year our of conference. It appears that OU isnt very good this year. If Baylor played FSU or Alabama in the NC game it would be ugly.

Why would it be ugly? What basis do you have other than Baylor isn't a power?

Exactly. OU's offense isn't looked upon as being as powerful this season simply because of their QB situation. OU has excellent skill position players and as always their O-line is very strong. The Sooners also have quite a bit of talent on the defensive side of the ball. OU is a good football team and for anybody to doubt that fact simply doesn't know what they are talking about. Baylor played a pretty mediocre game against the Sooners last night and handled them easily. Keep in mind that Baylor played most of the game without their top 2 RB's and they lost their top playmaking WR early in the 2nd half last night. They still dropped over 40 points on a very capable defense. Hell... Baylor's 3rd string RB came in and ripped OU for 182 rushing yards.

Baylor hasn't got the respect they deserve because they aren't a traditional powerhouse like Florida State or Alabama but the difference in talent level is closer then most people think it is. Baylor's defense has improved tremendously since last season and the talent they have on the offensive side of the ball is as good as any team in the country this year. I think if Baylor played FSU or Bama for the national championship they would have a solid chance to beat either one of them. As OU found out last night... you can only contain an offense with the firepower that Baylor is packing for so long and once they get going it's all over. Baylor wasn't even close to full strength last night either. Baylor is definitely good enough to be a contender for the national championship this year.

I don`t think Baylors line play could keep up for an entire game. Alabama would just overpower them.

In my opinion.

I don't think it would end well for Baylor in a NCG vs Alabama. With Alabama's talent plus 4 weeks for Nick Saban to prepare, it could be an ugly one.

This is tough, actually. Outside of maybe Florida State, I don't see why not Baylor. They've proven they're at least as good as everyone else.
