It is a bit of a distraction for him personally. He'll be juggling trying to put together a staff with his usual game prep. And also any press he has to do for the S Carolina gig takes time away from his current duties. Probably not enough to really give us an advantage, but might be something.
I’m guessing we will see a lot of schools take a chance on emerging assistants this year to save some cash. I think a lot big names like Campbell will sit on the sidelines and wait for a better market next year. Like National Champion IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY!
I guess I don't understand Beamer's decision. I understand he made a commitment to OU, but it's not like he's the HC or even OC/DC. If that were me getting my first HC job, I would be on campus the next day. Evaluating assistants, reviewing recruits, etc. I know a lot of it can be done virtually, but with the early signing day coming up, I'd be more focused on the new job anyway.
