OT: Dumb and Dumber question

I am 99% sure that I heard that one of the guys in the ‘hey guys. Big gulps huh’ scene in Dumb and Dumber was an old Iowa state basketball player. It’s been so long I can’t remember what player but we had twins on the team back in those years and I think it was one of them? Anyone confirm this?

anyway just learned that this scene was 100% improvised and those guys were just standing outside and were unpaid extras.

I could see those guys might have been standing there and they asked them if they wanted to be in the movie, but they arent shooting that scene with a Sony handycam. It had to be clear they were shooting a film and those guys knew what was going on.

That’s a cool story if true.
