I don’t pretend to speak for Chris, but here is how I feel about the constant comments that Chris and Blum are writing things just to stir the pot or drive ad revenue…
Does writing about Fred, Pollard, the NBA, etc drive page views? Sure, people click on what they want to read about. BUT - and this is important – they’re writing about those topics because they’re big topics right now and they know people want insight and information. Just like I was when I created the site, they are trying to provide a service that helps the fans connect and know about things they otherwise wouldn’t have access to. As I used to say; “By the Fanatics, For the Fanatics”.
Believe me, they’d much rather talk about other things even at the expense of fewer clicks or views, you don’t understand them or their purpose if you think otherwise. I can assure you Chris would much rather talk about wrestling or Taylor Swift… or wrestling with Taylor Swift
If you’ve ever met either of them, you would know that they don’t throw crap out there just to drive activity or get a response, they provide very selective information only on topics they feel incredibly comfortable they have solid info on. They don’t “stir the pot”, they tell you what in the pot is possibly kosher and what is just crap floating on top. In my opinion, that’s what makes them clearly different (and better) than the DM Register, Marty, Miller, Deace, pay sites, etc. Chris and Brent have… integrity and ISU’s best interest at heart.
So while people bury their heads in the sand to avoid talking about what may happen or where things may land, or get up in arms thinking that all of this chatter is just a conspiracy to make money – take a step back. Try to understand that CF has always been about credible insight first and foremost…. And many times at the clear expense of ad revenue or monetization.
Sorry, had to vent a bit about the personal attacks on people that just try to help. Many wonder why some people share very little; the constant accusations and attacks are the reason why. The “nut to the groin” mentality on here is very self-fulfilling in so many ways.
