...before Fred goes the route of Brad Stevens. I certainly hope he stays for 20+ years...but I hope we have a final four or more to remember him by when that time comes. I'm sure the Bill Selfs of the world use that against ISU during recruiting wars too. "Why go there? Fred could leave at anytime for the NBA..."

Brad Stevens took a mid-major to the NCAA championship game. Twice.

Fred does that... Good problems to have.

Someday Fred may go the route of Brad Stevens. I don't think that will happen until we are a program that can consistently bring in top 20 recruiting classes and go deep in the tournament any given season. Essentially, I'm not concerned about Fred leaving because I don't think it will happen until the program is in a truly incredible place and the job is seen as a very good one.

You're right. Quit worrying about the ending and just enjoy the ride...sorta like sex. :)

Thought I read Hoiberg was taking the 76ers job, and thats why Royce is heading there?

Fire Fred, so we don't have to have any more of these Fred heads to the NBA threads. It is late, and we should all go to bed.

Fred will probably die someday 40+ years down the road, then he'll for sure not be coaching ISU anymore. Better fire him now and get it over with.

Maybe Fred loves being in Ames, coaching college kids and working at a place he loves. The NBA is a grind, a jump very very very very very few have made with any success and they are always looking for a reason to fire you.

before someone else makes a stupid paranoid thread about Fred.

It's funny you mention Bill Self, who has been a Head Coach for 20 years, ten of which have been at Kansas. Everyone thinks he's a great coach, yet he hasn't bailed for the NBA yet. Is it impossible that Fred, who has so much history at ISU, could be at his destination job?
