So I got free tickets to the Omaha Mammoth first game in Omaha this week. Looked up the roster as I didnt even know what league they were. Found out that both Brun and Mcdonough were on the team along with Brock Jensen. Looked at the other rosters, tons of former big12 players, especially kstate.

Turns out I guess they are going to try to make this like the NBDL. Should be high quality football.

Normal I guess. Its also played outside at TD Ameritrade.

I believe this is the FXFL, Fall Experimental Football League, that will play four (4) games this fall if an effort to become the AAA of baseball for the NFL or NBDL for NBA.

My brother-in-law was on his way down to Florida to coach this fall for them until they were told they can't have any home games and thus he is only coaching for away games...I don't know how it all works out.

Brian Woods is the commissioner of the FXFL and was a graduate assistant at Iowa State.

There is currently no affiliation between the NFL and the FXFL.

There needs to be affiliation, never understood why the NFL doesn't have a developmental league like baseball or basketball.

I just heard about this last night and thought about going Wednesday if I had dirt cheap tickets.

I wonder how this will work out with the negotiations to get tie-ins with the NFL. The games have been picked up by a lot of regional stations and ESPN3.

Although I find it odd their is only 4 teams, and the former Florida team no longer has a home or location affiliation. And they are only playing 3 of the 6 games this season.

To answer someone else question, it's completely normal football, all the same rules. This is in hopes to as other's said become the feeder league to the NFL.

It is kind of surprising but there is also a "practice squad" for every NFL team.

idk if he is or not. They hired some local former UNO coach to be the head coach and just says that his staff is made up of former Omaha Beef coaches and former NFL players that live in Omaha. He hasnt said anything on twitter that Ive noticed.

One article said Sage is a coach and that Sage lives in Omaha.

Some big name QBs

Jordan Jefferson
Carson Coffman
Tahj Boyd
Brock Jensen (lake bisons favorite)

Just checked ticketmaster and there are lots of seats available. Not that I am surprised as this has never been very well advertised.
