Oklahoma Contemplating Leaving Big XII

Seriously Oklahoma go **** yourself. I'm so tired of this reallignment ********... Will the big XII please just hurry up and fall apart or stabilize. This is getting ridiculous. I'm getting really turned off on college football. Very, very disappointing....:arghh:

The ESPN article is misleading... see Boren's actual quotes here...

UPDATED: Boren on Big 12, OU’s future in it (or out) | OU Sports

I agree that the lead on the story was misleading, but.....the fact that the president of the University of Oklahoma made those comments at all is not a good thing....it's the first time one of the remaining nine schools has publicly come out and let it be knowwn that they could leave which tells me people are getting nervous all across the conference.

I also think they may be trying to smoke out BYU and others to let them know that they do not have an indefenite amount of time to make a decision....no matter how you look at it though...it is not what i was hoping for. For the first time I believe this will not end well.

I would tend to believe with the firmly stated nature of the 3 "I'll just put it this way" in the last paragraph, that this is nothing more than a conference president dealing with a antsy fan/alumni base who want him to look like he is being proactive. I believe he is an ex-politician.

At least, that is what I hope.

**** this ****. I sick and tired of this realignment talk. Stay committed to the Big 12 or leave.

I think you'll get your wish soon.

How much money would ISU make in the Big East compared to the Big 12?

Looking at a potential 30% loss in expected revenues...that we have debt service on.*

Expenses will also jump BIG time.

The lawyers must be chomping at the bit for a chance at the lawsuits this **** might spawn.

I think when OU evaluates its options that trying to keep the B12 alive would come in about 3rd on his list. The only thing that would keep OU in the fold is if BYU accepted immediately and the B12 was very aggressive in getting new members to get up to 12, 14, or 16. The thinking is that BYU is a worthy replacement for TAMU but now we would be back to where we were last week. Does OU want to live with that?

My guess is that the B12 is toast. My biggest worry is that if OU takes OSU with them, does KU and KSU go too? If so, we are totally ****ed.

I agree with the fact that these comments mean the B12 is gone. I just can't see BYU coming on with OU looking to bail out. If the P12 goes after OU, they will want OSU as well. How are you going to find enough teams out there to fill a conference that is clearly not unified.

ou thinking long term. hard to do that in the current b12 when you see texas with what they are doing with their network, and possibly having the ability to go independent in a few years. adding a team or 3 is short-term thinking at best for ou. TAM and teams like them are getting out while the getting is good, JIMO.

Man, this is a huge vote of confidence against Texas. They are now on the brink of destroying two conferences in twenty years. WTF is wrong with them?

WTF is wrong with the rest of the conference? One school should not be able to dominate a conference unless other schools help them. I don't think schools get more than one vote, last I checked.

Some quotes pulled from actual Texas message boards;

"If you think DeLoss is sitting around surprised by anything, you just aren't paying attention. More than likely, he is pulling most of these strings."

"The Pac-16 needs Texas. It's not the other way around."

They believe that are God's gift to Earth. All of their actions behind the scenes and in public have cemented this.

OU's posturing has nothing to do with BYU, it's all about ND. If ND agrees to join the B12, then OU will stay on.

Also, if OU leaves for the P12, Texas/Tech/Okie St will follow them. It won't be Mizzou and KU.

Texas has enough influence that they threaten to leave or other b.s. to get their way. To me, they bully schools into letting Texas be Texas in order to give everyone else a home.
