Thursday night game does nothing for me this week. Not a great overall slate of games but two that are intriguing are Green Bay at Carolina and Denver at Indy. Carolina take take the driver's seat in NFC with a win, but even with a second straight tough match up I don't see Rodgers and Co. losing 2 weeks in a row. On paper Denver Indy looks like a mismatch but Indy always plays us tough and Manning looked bad in his first visit to Indy as opp.

Vikes need the Panthers to take care of business at home.

Manning needs 284 yards to pass Favre for the NFL career passing yards record. Not sure if he gets there this weekend, but it'd be fitting for him to do it in Indy.

Panthers and Vikings both win at home (over Packers and Rams respectively) and we have a tie in the NFC North at 6-2 halfway through the season.

I'll be at the Vikings game Sunday. I'm looking forward to seeing Gurley in person and hopefully I'll see the Vikes improve to 6-2 like I think they should.

I think it's going to be one of the better games this weekend. The Vikes look like they might be a little ahead of schedule; I thought going into the season they might be a year away from being a playoff team but Zimmer has them playing really well.

Browns and Johnny Manziel at Cincy tonight. Yawn.

Looks like the purge is underway in Detroit. Caldwell is staying on as head coach for now, but even if he makes it to the end of the season it's impossible to think he'll be there next year.

I'm normally one for continuity, and think a lot of teams are way too quick to pull the plug, but this is a circumstance where I agree. There's no reason for Detroit to be as bad as they are. There is talent on that team. Maybe not a playoff caliber team, but certainly better than how they've looked this season.

At least they were smart enough to not put all their eggs in the Suh basket (not even going to attempt his first name). Letting Fairley and Suh both walk in free agency hurt them this year but leaves them with some pretty decent cap flexibility going forward. As the roster stands now, they'll be about 15 million under the cap going into 2016. It's the huge deals for Stafford and Calvin Johnson that are going to weigh them down. Their insane rookie deals continue to haunt the franchise. Can you imagine what the #1 overall pick would be getting now if the NFL hadn't finally put a rookie scale in place?

Browns on offense and nantz mentioned Bibbs is in. I guess I didn't realize he made their main roster.

Not exactly a newsflash, but man the NFL has a lot of commercials. Makes it tough to watch when there's only one game on.

It's even worse actually going to a game. I went to a Colts/Vikes game in Minneapolis back in 2008 or 2009, I think. And that was the last NFL game I plan to attend. It's surprising to see just how much standing around and waiting the players do during the tv timeouts.

I was there!

I was there!

Yikes kicked their *** for 3 and a half quarters. Manning and co. Finally got it together late and Vinatieri kicked the game winner. I remember listening to the Vikings post game show on the way out of town; virtually every caller was ready to run Tarvaris Jackson out of town on a rail.

T.Y. Hilton is a long shot to go for the Colts today. That leaves them with no deep threats...not that it matters, because the next time Luck has time to set up and go deep without defenders in his grill would be the first time this season. I think he's going to worked over by the Denver defense today.

Agreed. I think it's going to be a blood bath

Bad enough for Pagano to get fired? Not saying it's what I want by any means but I suspect Irsay is just looking for an excuse now. Bye week coming up so if he's thinking about it then now would be the time, assuming today goes as expected and the Colts get drilled. I suppose there's the very, very slim possibility that Luck turns it around and wills them to a win but I'm not banking on it.
