Official Post-Game Thread - ISU vs. SDSU

AA poised, calm looked like he has played a lot of college QB, sees the field well.

Bates needs to calm down, look to pass, and see the field better. awsome runner. Both will play all year IMO

Fresh WR are going to be great targets for years to come.

The D hit hard, Benton for his 1st game is a dam hard hitter. The team needs to learn to tackle from Smith.

This team has a lot of work to do to yet but it was nice to see them find the endzone, win big, and get big plays on D.

Random thoughts:

1-Kicking game was fabulous...Mahoney="the man".

2-46,000+? Had to be more than that, 48-49,000 is more like it..someone screwed up the count.

3-How do you act when you're kicking the other teams arse? Wierd, but I liked it, I could get use to it!
4-Jake Christiansen is having nightmares of #54 coming at him...Jake is dead man walking in two weeks.

5-I thought the offensive line needs more time to gel, toss plays should have resulted in bigger gains, but linemen were to slow to get out there.

6-Stick with 2 qb's , each brings there own spice to the offense and keeps the defense in suspense.

7-Freshman played HUGE tonight...the coaching staff knows what it's doing obviously.

8-Next week is payback time...Kent State is getting buried!!!!!

good first game--too many fumbles-if we can eliminate fumbles, our team should have a pretty decent year.if we continue to cough up the ball,we will have a long season.

Go, Boney Mahoney! It's nice to have a dependable kicker!

I think we can think of somethin better than "Boney Mahoney"...heck, you dont even gotta use his name...Das Boot? I guess when Chiz likes somethin he says "thats salty", he called Mahoney "salty" tonight. Anyone who saw his "Crank Dat Lion King" video that he promptly removed from youtube knows the kid can move...we gotta have somethin better than Boney though.

All names aside, the kid was phenomenal! Anyone else think a few of those FG's had another 10-20 yards behind them after they crossed the uprights? And how about that kickoff that got pushed back...still gets it to the goal line with mega hangtime! lets hope he stays consistent!

quit posting so I can go to bed.

You first

I think they should be able to find a way to have Arnaud as the starter with Bates still seeing a few series to help swing momentum or keep the defense on its toes. I agree though, I think Arnaud is the guy to go with. However, Bates is electric, and it's certainly an amazing problem to be stuck with. Iowa fans around here, can we officially say that our two top QBs are better or do we need to wait for Stanzi to prove himself?

Defense- ouch! The 5 interceptions were nice, but 350 yards of total offense for SDSU? If it was not for the interceptions, it would have been a close game. Last year our defense kept us in games we had no business being in, this year our offense will have to keep us in those games.

AA did look poised, but did he even attempt to throw a ball over 5 yards? That won't work forever.

He had a great game but let's wait until has to hit some under pressure before we start calling him \"Money\".

Well, sure.. I just enjoyed thinking of something and having a cheesy little saying to go along with it

That's a very unfair statement. When you have 202 yards of interception returns, your offensive numbers are going to go down because your defense is moving the ball down the field for you. Especially when 4 of your 5 picks are over 35 yards.

That confirms it for me, he came from a Military background.(Chizik)

Very conservative game plan tonight. I think the playbook will be opened up a little more against Kent State next week. Just tighten a few things up and I think we will be fine. One of the best nights in terms of weather conditions and just being juiced up to get things started that I have been a part of at the Jack. Is it next Saturday yet?

Now the only thing needed to complete a perfect weekend: Iowa struggles mightily against Maine (a lose would be even nicer ), although I am sure it won't happen.
