***Official: ISU @ EIU game(day) thread***

The problem is not really the team - it's the fans. Everyone said prior to the season expectations were low with a new HC and weaknesses on the team.

After feasting on some poor teams, expectations were erroneously inflated.

And now I read people ripping on our player and coaches at will - happily doing so it seams. One minute guys like DG and Jake Anderson are loved. People wonder what they are doing on the floor.

Not like this is anything new here, just pointing out a fact.

It would be real swell if people remembered the circumstances the team is in - and that this rebuilding is going to take time. My only frustration is Iowa shouldn't be very good either - but it does look like they found a few more diamonds in the rough than we have thus far.

Keep in mind though - when rebuilding a team, winning on the road is quite tough.

Wait - why would I bother mentioning that - no one is going to keep this thing in perspective anyway...

THIS!!!!!!...thank you ...i couldnt figure out how to put this in words

1-14 is far worse then having an off night. Thats just a STOP SHOOTING THE BALL night.

You're right. No good players have ever had a bad game. I'm pretty sure Dwyane Wade has a 1-15 game earlier this year. Pretty awful player there.

I've always been a Garrett fan. He just needs to stop taking contested shots. We can get a better look.

What I think is funny is those that hate DG also hated McD. McD wouldn't let DG shoot, obviously FH gives him free reign. So do you hate DG or do you really think FH is a crappier head coach than McD?

When is JVB gonna pull his head outta his ***?!?! He's stringing along multiple bad outings. He should lose his starting spot...just to wake him up. I know there's not a better option, but you can't come out and get in early foul trouble every damn night!

If you watched closely is second foul looked like a clean block. That being said every team always has one player that seems to pick up cheap fouls that are not fouls.

Regardless of expectations, it is frustrating to watch any one player shoot 1-14 in the half. But ISUfan22's post is right on. It makes it worse because we are losing to Iowa and everyone hates Iowa. Rightfully so I might add.

You could not be more wrong. With JA going at PG we were even worse. DG IS our best player, but he's been missing shots he usually makes. How can you say he's a SG. He's the best ball handler in the state.

The proof is in the pudding. I'm not arguing he's the best PG we have but he's not a PG. Best ball handler in the state? Did you not watch the UNI or Cal games? He ****** those games down his leg, we didn't even get shots up.

Easy killer it is called fans being in the moment as the game is happening. Hardly indicative of the overall attitude of the vast majority. Just venting/discussing in a game thread while the game is happening. My expectations are still the same but I get passionate during the game and go to a message board to discuss the game. Win or lose won't change a thing for me as a fan. I think you are trying to make way to much out of nothing.

See this is where you're dead wrong. He's not a point guard. The final 2 minutes of the last 2 games proved that. He's a solid role player at SG playing out of position due to us having no pgs.

He's 1-14 from the field with 2 TO's....that might be the worst line for a half of basketball I've ever seen.

Seriously!?! Are you related to DG?

Do any of you watch the other games? Do you know anything about basketball? Do you know that DG leads our team in PPG AND assists? WTF is wrong with you? He's our best player. He's having an off night obviously... **** happens. ****.

Hated McD. Like DG.

What do you make of that?

The worst thing I see is missing the front end of a two shot foul; clanks short. Fred needs a major overhaul on free throw shooting.

That has to drive coaches insane. How many coaches have made 25-25 in that fund raiser?

You said... that we will see what kind of coach he is after seeing how we play in the second half.

Like I said.. First year coach. Doesn't have the players. 3 players in foul trouble. And our pg can't buy a bucket.

This game isn't going to say anything about what type of coach Fred is.

Run along now.

you're right....being down in a big game at half time on the road against a rival will tell us nothing about how he can get players to respond...dumb Its a great test for this team and im excited to see how these guys respond
