***Official: ISU @ EIU game(day) thread***

I know this isn't what he prefers, but so far that "run & gun" style has been nothing but a turnover and bad shot machine. Not exactly going as planned. Fran would be wise to reel his boys in, and maybe they can grind out some close games. If your precious Hawks don't learn to take care of he rock soon, it is going to be one brutal season, making the dilusional Hawk fanbase yearn for the years when they got to 10 wins.

Iowa had 8 turnovers against UNI. I think they did a pretty good job of taking care of the ball in that game.

Iowa has also scored 111 points this season. It's not like they aren't capable of putting up big numbers.

111 on the whole season?

I don't think SIU-Edwardsville is a real predictor of any sort of ability, just just I don't get wound up for SE Missouri State.

So for one game Iowa took care of the ball, and you suggest this is the trend?

Exactly who did they score 111 against? SIU-Edwardsville, a team who has 1 victory, and that victory is not even against a D-1 team.

Nice try though.

I woke up with this strange hunch...i think Jordan Railey plays a big role in the Cyclone game tonight.

I'd be psyched for a big game from The Giraffe, he has been a bit of a pleasant surprise.

Really, we just need to win ONE of the big ones against the Hawks this year. (maybe we won volleyball? I don't really follow that.)

... apparently it's a tough place to play now, but that shouldn't have any effect on us.

Really? It didn't look like all that great of a homecourt advantage on Tuesday night for the UNI game. It may as well have been a neutral site as engaged as the Iowa fans were. I think if ISU forces the tempo and gets up and down the floor, it favors the Cyclones. Both teams want to run and gun, but when they do they're prone to turnovers and poor shot selection. I just think that Iowa will have more of both in that type of game.

If the Hawks slow it down and grind it out like they did on Tuesday, they have the edge.

I hope the our boys run them into the ground. Go Cyclones!!

For the sake of the Iowa fanbase, you had better hope that entire game was a fluke. I don't think Iowa fans have the patience to slog through another season scoring 50 points a game. If this is what the fans wan, then booting The Lick was a horrible move.
Who is the only team that scored over 110 this year? Iowa or Iowa State?
Who is the only team that scored over 100 this year? Iowa or Iowa State?

I think Iowa will take whatever you guys have to offer up tonight... Hawks win.

Iowa has played a tougher schedule so far this year than your precious cyclones.

Iowa is 5-4 against the 235th hardest schedule

ISU is 7-2 against the 286th hardest schedule

Bully for you, that's really something to brag about.
Not bragging... just offering a reason for Iowa State's inflated stats for the season over Iowa. It seems that the conventional wisdom around here is that Iowa can't run with Iowa State. I really don't think that is the case. 50 places in schedule strength is significant when comparing Iowa State's 2 extra wins over Iowa's record... and Iowa State's better offensive numbers.

Weird I do too. A few of his 15 foot, line-drive jumpers are going to go off the front iron, right to Jake who will lay them in for a few key buckets.

In all seriousness...

I'm not certain Jordan has to score to be a big factor. He just needs to play big.

I like the current disposition heading into this game.
Iowa feeling a little too good about themselves, and us back to feeling like we have something to prove.

Who is the only team to lose to South Dakota St and Long Beach State this year?

You just can't use SIU-Edwardsville as an argument. You just can't. That's a pathetic excuse of a team.

I still want to hear an answer as to what you do should we score over 60.....

But you also can't deny that your biggest win thus far (UNI) was due to playing slow-it-down ball. I say the same thing about this game I said about the ISU-UNI game. The faster it goes, the more advantageous things will be for ISU. If it starts getting bogged down, that's bad news for the Clones. It's not that Iowa is utterly incapable of running, it's that a fast-paced game is a big advantage in hiding some admittedly huge weak spots for Iowa State this year.

You also can't ignore that Iowa has been just as ridiculously inconsistent as ISU this year, if not more so.

I'm not proud of visiting the site, but your own schedule shows that Iowa hasn't beaten anyone on their Murderer's Row that scores over 60 points.

That's why we say you can't run with us if, and that's a big if, the score gets up in the 70s, 80s or beyond. You've proven so far that you don't play well in that sort of game.

Now if I just ruined tonight by pointing that out, and we lose 83-82, I'm sorry.
