*** Official Florida A&M vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Watson plays a lot like Ward. Athletic and disruptive on defense, capable of spectacular dunks on offense. But he's several inches shorter, so not the rim protector. Not as strong as Rob. Doesn't handle the ball or shoot very well.

I think he has a role, as t-noah described. Shut down a hot shooting big guard or small forward, or in a press, especially a trapping and/zone press.

I think he lacks confidence on the offensive end. I feel like he has major upside with that athleticism but shoots nervously but maybe he’s just a terrible shooter lol

Here is the problem...........the last 2 years and change Mr. Energy has been able to fumble and bumble all over himself and the court, yet he is the face of the program while players like Watson cannot make one mistake and the exit stage left sign lights up. Omaha this year to a lesser extent. Both have more talent in their right ear than Mr. Energy......and they know it.

ISU this year has played only 3 teams that required more than just 5 warm bodies showing up. They are 1-2 in those 3 games. Last year when the January swoon started Ward and Watson were mysteriously benched while Mr. Energy's minutes went up. Just my opinion.......but coach better be careful when the games get tough that he didn't work these players more in these glorified scrimmages. Omaha while playing almost 24/7 these last few years has never had to be this structured on the court. Now against the bad teams is where this irons itself out.....not against Houston or KU.
BRE thinks you are a good person and should treat yourself better.

Gosh, if we had one big who could create. Its been a long time. Oh well. Inside out. Drive and kick.

At the risk of extending the minutes debate even more, I was curious, so I looked back at some of the minute distributions from last season's non-conference games. (What I would really like to do is actually add up the starters' minutes--or the top 5 minute-getters--and see how it compares to this year, but that's more work than I want to do today.) At a glance, it doesn't seem like there's that much difference in the blowout games. If anything, the 30+ point wins last season seemed more likely to have a couple of guys playing more than 30 minutes.

One game did stick out. Against McNeese State (a 77-40 win), Gabe Kalscheur played 40 minutes! Plus Kunc, Holmes, and Lipsey also played 30+ minutes. To be fair, Grill was out sick so those minutes had to go somewhere, but that still seems crazy considering right now we're talking about whether a guy like Lipsey should have played 31 minutes or more like 27 minutes on Sunday.
