*** OFFICIAL Abdel Nader appreciation thread ***

He's had several games where he was flat out unstoppable. I'm not sure I've ever seen a guy that was that streaky, but he's really an X factor for this team. Has the ability to carry us when nothing else is going right. If he can get on another three game streak like he just had during the tournament, we could go pretty deep. Frustrating to watch when he's off, but part of that is knowing how good he can be when he's on.

My expectations for Nader were never very high. I really didn't know anything about him. His contribution to the Cyclone Basketball program has been huge.

I think he is a quiet but 'team player' more than some fans realize. Have always felt that when he's made some of those forced moves or off balance shots, its at times where he knows his team needs something good to happen and he just wants to 'make a play'. Wish he could get to guard a '4' and be big on the boards for us vs. having often to guard quick wings or guards. Favorite moments were his stepping up and being huge in the win at Iowa last year, and his game winner vs. Cincy this year. Congrats on his graduation and representing us as a Cyclone. Thanks Abdel!

Oh my God! Thank you for posting that link. I had (almost) forgot how much damn fun that game was. And, yes, as mentioned above, it was one of my favorite Abdel moments. Must say there's a few things that creep into my mind after watching that, tho: 1. Had forgotten Edozie actually played and scored a baseline jumper in that game. 2. How totally opposite the game this year was as far as Iowa dominating the first half (you do have to give them some credit on their improvement) 3. Just another dang reminder of how good Naz looked when he was healthy and how much we miss him!!! and lastly, 4. After rewatching and enjoying that clip, how in the **** did that team lose to UAB last March?
Just goes to show you the crapshoot the big dance is. Let's go after it this year, Abdel and crew!!!!!!

I love me some Abdel Nader - Interesting how impressed announcers are of him who have never seen him play. TCU's coach gave him a great compliment after the game at the presser, CSP also very complimentary of Abdel's consistent attitude. Keep going Abdel you have a ton of basketball in your future.

Ugh!!!
Gonna miss his quiet confidence and demeanor. Up or down, he always looked to the next play. Good man, he'll be sorely missed.

Watching him smoke the Hawks last year in Carver. Attended that game in person, Hawk fans started leaving with over 8 minutes left to play

He made some great plays in the second half to bring us along in the Big 12 Championship game last year.

How about Nader blowing a kiss to our student section tonight?

Of all the key players, seems like the one I know least about. Never seems to showboat and always believes the next shot will be good while I seize up. Impressive when you consider he's shooting and I'm watching from the couch.

He's made some huge shots and has great confidence, which is exactly what we need. He also seems like a team-first guy. Also has had some incredible blocks over the years. I remember one against Arkansas and the one against Colorado to start the year this year.

Will be sorely missed.

I appreciate the OP starting this thread. Obviously when you are a senior next to Georges you'll be overshadowed, but I know I greatly appreciate his contributions and commitment he made over the summer to do what the team needed and his work has paid off.

That was the goal. Obviously the spotlight is on Georges tonight and rightfully so but everyone deserves their moment!

I'm really happy that Nader finally got hot for a stretch of 3 games or so earlier this year. If Prohm's comments earlier in the year are true then he certainly deserves it. He started off his career as Road Warrior Nader making big plays in the games @ Iowa and WVU and then transitioned into the guy we have now, who is more or less a solid college basketball player. It might be easy to overlook what he does now but there are many games we may not have won without him playing well over the last 2 years.
