I'm starting this today because I consider the Masters starting with the Par 3 contest. Always fun because past champions participate even when not participating in the full tournament.

Rory is playing some really good golf. Winning the Players was impressive. Koepka has won 3 of the last 6 majors he's played in. I'll take either of those two.

Masters Draft tonight with some buddies. I'd say my top 4 right now would be Rory, DJ, Scott or Molinari.

Rory's the easy pick. Spieth will be around. DJ is kind of a crap shot because while he has some decent finishes he's never really been in contention. Rickie can play anywhere. Koepka should probably be around but this Body Issue thing seems to have set him back a little. Rose is a horse for the course. I still don't know if Tiger can win at this Augusta. Thorbjorn Oleson is a dark horse that has some form. Casey plays well at Aususta but has a little bit of a Westwood vibe where I'm just not sure if he'll ever get there. Danny WIllet has also quietly gained some form back and his iron play has been pretty good. Then there is Hideki and JT who have been hitting the ball well all year and Hideki has some history here so he could pop up.

Picking 5 to win I'd go:
Rory
Spieth
Rickie
Rose
DJ

Picking 5 to finish well:

Rory
Spieth
Tiger
Casey
Rose

I took Rory, Rose, Speith, Molinari, Koepka, and Tiger. If you want some betting value, look towards those last three guys. All of them are +2000

I'll take Dustin Johnson.

As good as Dustin is, this isn't the kind of course that favors him. Shotmakers do well at Augusta, guys who are clever around the greens. IOW, accuracy trumps distance. (Not trying to talk down to you - I know you know the game!)

Tiger used to be a bomber - and occasionally he still is - but he also was a great shotmaker and a better than average putter.

I like Rory, too - and I would keep my eye on Justin Thomas.

Finau is the guy who dislocated his ankle last year and popped it back in place right there on the fairway, right? That's grit (also, poor decision making). I like that guy. He's my darkhorse pick.

I really don't. If I get to catch the back nine of the last round I'll be lucky. Most of my sports viewing these days is done on the run either streaming or on the radio.

It was Finau and he wore an ankle brace today when he played that hole to make a joke.
