I'm beginning to think shot selection is our biggest problem. Brackins and Gilstrap throw up the most awful, awkward, impossible shots so regularly. You just want to scream at them and tell them they make those shots less than 5% of the time.

Brackins was doing this at the beginning of last year, but then he snapped out of it. Just hasn't snapped out of it this year, and it was contagious to Gilstrap.

Actually, with the "trajectory" GM has put the program on under his watch I think we better set the bar at 12th place in conference if we don't want to set expectations too high lest they be dashed.

Honest to god late in the game I was saying "Please do not give Brackins the ball outside of the lane. Sure enough we did and he put up a long two when we were down by three that was heavily challenged and there was a lot of time on the clock.

What NBA team would want a guy that air balls a 16 ft jump shot at the end of a very tight game? That's what CB did today.

I'd put the chances of CB coming back at about 75% right now. I guarantee you that he doesn't want to come back, but he might not have a choice in the matter at this point? Unless he's happy playing in Europe or something?

We could very easily see CB and MG back again IMO... if MG gets another year? Because MG isn't ready for the NBA yet either. He is so out of control it isn't funny. But I would seriously consider drafting MG before CB right now if I'm an NBA GM. MG's outside shot is better, plus he's a WAY better rebounder.

We actually could be halfway decent next year with Brackins, Gilstrap, DG, Colvin, Christopherson, Phillips, Ejim, Dendy, Ham, JVB, Boozer, etc. Could be? With GMac, anything can happen of course.... as we witnessed this year.

You may be right but it's going to come down to the Coach finding an identity for the program. I think it starts by getting the team in the weight room in the off season (broken record - I have all but given up on this possibility) and coaching with a kind of urgency he is just starting to show. I don't know if it's because he underestimated the big 12 or the defections has him gun shy but he almost coaches this team like an NBA team. It would work if he could recruit NBA talent but until then he better toughen up. Oh yeah, and start wearing some school colors for chrissakes.

What kind of coach was he at UNI? All I remember about him was an altercation with Wayne Morgan. Has he ever shown the emotion at ISU that he did while coaching against ISU?

I would rip you if you weren't exactly right about him not being clutch and he should also know what to do with it. Honestly, I want DG to be the guy. I wanted him to go to the hole. I would rather take my chances on something inside with him that Brackins on a challenged jumper.

DG, I felt, was the only one out there that really went hard today. SC was ok but there was a ball that he needed to come up with at the end and he didn't even go after it. I have a feeling this team is down on themselves, as they should be.

I also think that Mac will have some serious reflection time after this season and I think there will be a change in how he handles the team. I don't know if will work or not, but i think he will become much harder and much more intense in practice. We should be able to tell if that is the case.

Went to my first game today, and surprisingly, it looked a lot worse in person.

Craig and Gilstrap on offense = :dull:

Not that anyone else is better, but you expect your "studs" to find the ball and find the basket.

I think he wants to coach like a CEO. He needs to be a first line supervisor instead.

Good post. He needs to figure out what the identity needs to be and coach it in to them. If he wants them to be a tough, ugly, bang it out team, coach that. If wants to run and gun, coach those philosophies. If he wants to be a slashing team, teach that stuff. I have no doubt he has the knowledge in his head to coach different styles. I think he is trying to make this team well rounded all at once instead of trying to make them very good at one style. Very few, actually, I cant think of a team that is great playing any type of game. Macs first step this offseason should be to figure out what type of team we need to be and set everything up slanted toward that style and go for broke.

Right now we look like a team that wants the other team to dictate the style of play and then we will try to beat them that way. That doesn't work. You have to dictate to win consistently.

How pathetic is it when a people took the beginning of the season with "we won by ten points, we won by 20 points, why are we complaining about a a win when we won by that much."....SIMPLE....LOOK WHAT HAS HAPPENED ....WE CANT PLAY THIS DAMN GAME. Now I hope you all understand what the hell I meant when I said ISU will get killed if ISU does not get the crap fixed before the BIG12 games.... POINT PROVEN. all you that complained at me, now you see. Thank god I am not paying for season tickets till this gets straightened out. Yes 10, 20 point win would be great if they played like they could have. Well the season is gone and over. Been that way since the Big12 games started. Sorry if I upset all you faithful, but like it has been stated ISU needed to get this corrected, ***** grip complain, call me a Iowa fan, call me a non ISU fan. I state what the facts is, I dont drink the kool-aid I state the facts. I am ****** at this teams coaching staff that cant correct a problem. With failures on the coaching staff with players that could have been NBA bound, and now may be here another year as the stock falls due to poor execution, and ONLY 10 minutes of playing hard instead of the full 40 minutes. This team is a pathetic excuse for a team.

I think what you are failing to realize is that our pathetic non-conference scheduling (and it was a little better this year) in recent years is not preparing us for the reality of Big 12 play.

not another win by isu from here on out. not trying to be negative but i really think the team has given up and might as well play our deep deep bench more. Which they already do so i guess keep the loss train moving.
