Found an article that talked about this being Arkansas’ first Sweet 16 appearance since ‘97, which included this chart. 100 teams have made it. If the Clones win tomorrow we will be the 27th team with 5 or more. Memphis and Illinois also playing for their 5th. Not bad.

FWIW, I count 90 teams who made it since 2000, add St Peters and Providence this year to make it 92. That’s a big drought since the Hawks last made it in ‘99. The B1G gets talked up as an elite basketball conference but they have 5 historically weak programs in Penn St, Nebraska, Rutgers, Minnesota and Northwestern. No wonder the B1G’s last champion was Sparty (with some home cooking) in 2000. Need iron to sharpen iron.

Arkansas was in it last year.

Surprised Illinois only has four in that time period.

Right. I missed that the article was from 2020 when the tourney was canceled so last year’s teams aren’t represented. I really hope TCU wins tomorrow, it would be their first Sweet 16 since the tourney expanded.
