Now do we have permission from the Hoks to go ahead with the SEZ?

After the announcement of the 'concrete' plans for the SEZ project, lots of our Hok friends willingly and sincerely told us how big a mistake it was for us. Now that the Cyclones have once again shown at least our equality, if not superiority, is it ok with them that we continue?

I caught the tail end of the morning show on KXNO this morning (felt dirty ever since).

The hawkhomers and a caller were talking about the unlikelihood of sellouts the remainder of the season.

I'm confused by this, and I may have missed a detail, but I thought the caller said the last sellout at Kinnick was Purdue last season? I'm presuming he meant up til last Saturday. So not Michigan, UNI or Ball State. They went on about how slight the chances to sellout Indiana or Northwestern and how bad the ratio will be when NU comes to town in November.

Anyway - had to chuckle at the thought of how for years and years all we ever heard was how our only sellouts were iowa and nebraska. And how now it seems iowa needs ISU and nebby to sell out "historic Kinnick"

I'll say again, what I said before. Who cares what they think when it comes to building projects at ISU. None of the money is coming out of their pockets, so they have no say.

You're asking "permission" from a bunch of deranged people who route for the Halkeyes if it's ok if we carry on with a stadium expansion funded by our alumni and supporters? First, their opinion is already flawed based on their demonstrated choices. And second, they aren't paying for it so who cares what they think?

I believe the last time they sold out (70585) was at the end of 2012 season. I believe it was probably the Nebraska game.

Edit: Purdue 2012.

Serious question, I thought they were getting a new video board like ours, but on tv all I saw was a ribbon board with two small video boards on either side, is that all they got?

Wowsers!! I was merely trying to remind folks of how arrogant and condescending some our Hok friends are. I apologize for upsetting some of you. Please feel free to go back to your thinskinedness and lack of ability to see intentioned humor. I will now slink back into my den.

Probably not. They'll probably just say both programs suck and in five years the only college program's left in Iowa will be UNI and D3 schools.

They have a large board in the opposite endzone. But the last time I was there, they didn't have the ribbon board - so I'm not sure about the "getting" part of the question.

I may have been mistaken, on tv it looked like one endzone had an old scoreboard while the other had a newer ribbon board with two smaller video boards on either side. Perhaps what I thought was the old scoreboard was really a newer video board similar to ours (I thought they announced they were getting a new one the year after we got ours).

Pretty sure that large scoreboard dates back to the endzone renovation - which has probably been 10+ years now? So maybe they're going to replace it. Last game I went to in Kinnick was 2006 I believe

According to Wikipedia - they upgraded the displays last year.

SEZ is a done deal

It took longer to get the SEZ project rolling than it did to win WWII. So now is the time to focus on the NEZ. That north side is going to look low budget next season.

(Half joking, but not)
