Maui was one of the most fan friendly basketball tournaments I've ever been to. From the hotel to the arena, teams were accessible to all fans. I have just a few comments about the trip.
  • Iowa State players were so gracious, kind, and engaging to fans. While these gentlemen stand on their own, I must give Prohm much credit for making sure these guys are always on their best behavior. They would do most anything any fan requested from signing autographs to taking pictures, and always took the time to thank us for being there and supporting them.
  • Iowa State fans were indeed everywhere. The tourney organizers did comment that Iowa State bought more tickets through the school sites then in history of this tournament, which did not include fans like me which bought through the Maui Jim site. It was pretty incredible and very loud in that small gym.
  • This tournament was as well organized as any I have ever seen. They leave no detail to be forgotten. They were also a very friendly bunch who just wanted the fans to have a great time inside and outside the venue. Along these lines let me give a great example of their professionalism. Twice in the Illinois game (once in each half) a referee went over to one of the security guys and tried to have some front row Iowa State boosters removed for... not standing, threatening, or cursing, but just simply giving them the jazz of what a terrible job they were doing. Both times the security went over and talked and joked with them, but never threw them out to the dismay of the officials. They clearly knew this was about the fans and not about rabbit-eared referees.
  • Ticket interest in Maui from locals and those who came without tickets were INSANE. Seriously, for the final day, tickets were going from $1000 to $2000 per ticket. If I didn't see it with my own eyes I would not have believed it. It was Crazy.
  • Finally the venue is small as everyone knows, but not a bad seat in the joint. They literally empty and fill the arena each game with the fans of the teams playing. Only those with All-day passes can remain. This makes every game electric and very very loud! It was a great experience.
  • I have some pics but not sure how to post. Will try this one.

I was disappointed with the apparel they had available. Absolutely zero creativity with the design.
