125 - Allison is not very good, but he really fights. Have to respect that.
133 - this weight is a huge WTF. Simmons and Parker are both good wrestlers, but can’t seem to win a match. Seems like there are some mental blocks here.
141 - solid win/ Storr is tough
149 - Degen dominated and really got after it. Like him a lot.
157 - Straw is solid. I think he plays a little too close to the chest. Want to see him open up and dominate.
165 - ISU is bad
174 - dreadful weight
184 - this was the only disappointing match of the night. I like Dane a lot and he uncharacteristically was broken and gave up the pin.
197 - Meh
Hvy - Harrington looks good. I think he has AA potential next year.
Pretty decent rundown. Going to be very tough to win a lot with how much we will give at 25, 65 and 74 (Bush could be serviceable at 74, I guess). Staff knows it though, as the 65/74 area has been the main recruiting target, and I don’t expect it to be a weakness next year and moving forward.
There are rumblings about something potentially happening at 125 (only stuff I have seen on this board).
There is an interesting sound bite from Coach Zadick after the dual about weight management. Wonder if 133 is the main offender? Just a thought.
I really, really like Storr, but 141 is probably the deepest weight in the country. He’s probably still a year away.
I agree with the comment about Harrington. He’s tough, and an above average heavy when it comes to athleticism. Also agree with Straw comment.
Degen is a guy I like to watch. He’s long, and knows how to use his length.
Those 4 are the top end of our eligible talent right now, and if we had a whole lineup of guys just like them, we would probably be hovering in the 10-12 range.
Next year, Coleman and hopefully Gomez make the lineup, the rumblings about 125 come to fruition, Carr comes in, Storr, Harrington, Degen and Straw add a year of experience. All of a sudden, the lineup could be solid.
