NFL: No tailgating at the Super Bowl

The NFL really just wants to ruin the entire fan experience. Of course with the expensive tickets and the fact that fans rarely can get a ticket I guess it doesn't matter. Having the Super Bowl in New Jersey doesn't really make a whole lot of sense anyway.

Superbowl was kinda ruined by having it played in New Jersey in the beginning of February.

Look at the geography of the stadium. The Meadowlands are not really a part of the city. They're kind of on their own. You wouldn't really want to walk there in February anyway.

I don't think people really tailgate for the Super Bowl anyways, and especially not in New Jersey in the Winter.

Beginning to? Brother, it's been that way for a while now.

For the average fan, the SuperBowl experience is in a home or at a bar, watching on TV. Seeing the game live has been outrageously expensive and cost prohibitive to most average folks for years and years. This is nothing new.

Do people tailgate at bowl games? I've never been to one.

Probably because they can't make money off of your tailgate. So why let you tailgate when they can charge you to come to a pre-game event.

I mean in general, I know ISU fans tailgate at anything. I don't know what the norm is for tailgating at bowl games though.

It was big at the Liberty Bowl. They even had a row called "Tiger Lane" (for Memphis home games) that had large, grassy places for high end tailgating. The lots were full of tailgaters, especially with it being a late afternoon game.

I remember reading somewhere that only %15 of tickets are available to the general public to purchase.

that's not surprising. The game itself has been mainly a corporate event for a long time. Some folks want to act like limiting tailgating and the ability to walk to the game is some strike against the common fan, but in reality, the common fan has been pushed out of the "in person" Super Bowl experience for some time now.
