Anyone here an NHL fan?

Who do you think makes/misses the playoffs?

My take:

East
Montreal--wins division
New Jersey--wind division
Carolina--wins division
Pittsburgh
Ottawa
NY Rangers
Buffalo
Capitals

Just missing and staying home: Philly

West
Detroit--wins divsion
Dallas
Anaheim
San Jose
Minnesota--wins division
Colorado
Calgary
Nashville-surprise run secures playoff spot and Vancouver misses playoffs.

I love hockey, but I do not follow the regular season. Once the playoffs start then I pay attention. The problem with the NHL is the regular season means nothing because everyone makes it.

First off, I should state that I follow the East a lot closer than the West because I'm a Leafs fan. Like you, I think Philadelphia will fall off the map and I believe Buffalo will be passed by a determined Washington (who benefits greatly from their remaining schedule against Southeastern teams). The West is a little more cut and dried, and again I don't follow them as closely, so I don't see any change in the current field of eight, although their seedings will likely change.

East
Pittsburgh*
Montreal*
Carolina*
New Jersey
Ottawa
New York (Rangers)
Boston
Washington

West
Detroit*
San Jose*
Colorado*
Anaheim
Dallas
Minnesota
Calgary
Vancouver

And wouldn't NBC kill for that first-round East matchup of Pittsburgh and Washington?

Unfortunately, the Blackhawks aren't going to make it this year but they will be a force to be reckon with next year.
