Peyton Manning- Led team to an undefeated record so far. Leads league in passing yards and is doing it despite having no Marvin Harrison for the 1st time and no Tony Dungy

Drew Brees- Led Saints to an undefeated season so far and his team leads the NFL in scoring. QB rating of 105

Brett Favre- Led team to a 10-1 record. Leads NFL in TD's, INT's (only 3) and QB rating of 112.

Chris Johnson- Team is only 5-6 but he is dominating the rushing total and has 9 TD's. Also only player in NFL history to have 3 rushes of over 85 yards in their career.....and they have all been this year!

Other. How about AP? Brady? A defensive player?

Manning.

Using only the word valuable there is no way you can give it to anyone else. With no rushing game, a rookie wide receiver and another with limited playing time (Garcon) he has easily been the most valuable to his team.

Favre, while putting up great stats and making Minnesota a legitimate Super Bowl contender, has a lot of weapons around him. Starting with AP and his offensive line.

Good frickin' luck figuring that one out. Flip a coin. IMO, all are deserving.

I know V.Young didn't play the first 6 weeks but...if the Titans keep winning, he keeps playing like something we've yet to see from him (in the NFL that is) and they somehow make the playoffs - while he should not get the award, his name aught to be mentioned in there.

I see what you are saying but Sydney Rice was a year away from being considered a bust. Berrian wasn't really wanted by the Bears anymore. Harvin is a rookie. Shiancoe was an unkown.

He has made those guys into superstars and he has done it while only being there for 4 months. Pretty impressive. IMO it is between Manning and Favre.

Shiancoe did almost have around 900 receiving yards last season, I can't completely consider him unknown. But Rice has been a completely different player this year. Berrian's numbers are not great, but good for the 3rd option. Harvin just makes plays.

However, Manning has been turning unknown guys into weekly highlight reels too.

Agreed. Manning does have the benefit of Wayne and Clark though too. Each player has it's advantages and disadvantages

How about I approach this from a different angle?

Troy Polomalu... cause we really suffer without him.

But if you're going to stick to the "usual" suspects - I have to wince and say Farve as well.

Last year at this point, Vikes 6-5
Last year at this point, Colts 7-4

Both make or break their teams, but Favre's numbers and team turnaround are more impressive so thats why I go with him as of right now.

There is still like a month of the regular season left. Favre could easily suffer a stroke making Brees the clear cut decision.

Hey I put an "OTHER" in there for a write in!

Jared Allen? Darren Sharper (7 INTS, 3 TD)
