I know there are hundreds of sites and opinions from draft "experts"...I have followed this site for at least 4 or 5 years and enjoy reading through it. This "expert" just updated his picks and I found it very interesting that he thought the Vikings would draft Cam Newton. Would be funny to see some on this board changing their tune about Cam if he got selected by their favorite team. I always fear that the Steelers will pick and Iowa player because I don't want to cheer for Hawkeyes (current or former). Anyway, here is the site:

I wouldn't change my tune...still wouldn't like Cam.

And I would question if the Vikes FO knew what they were doing...they already have an athletic project QB in Joe Webb...and the jury is still out on Cam's transition to the NFL...and there's always a chance of him being the next Jamarcus Russell.

Too many questions on him for the Vikes to take him...and I think he may end up going before the Vikes pick anyway...some QB desperate team will take him...hopefully...

I would think they would take the OT from Colorado (Solder?). Then perhaps see what is available at QB in the 2nd round or later. I actually think Cam could be a fine NFL QB, but I'm not sure I see the vikings taking him that early. Maybe.

I would have no issues with it. I don't think he should have been allowed to play in the title game, but as a pro, I think he would do ok. I was never against Cam Newton, just the process that let him play. I would rather Minnesota look elsewhere for a QB. I see Carson Palmer wants traded, don't think he is the answer in Minny, but depending on the price, if Cincy decides to meet his demand, it could be the best option for next year. I'm also not against the Vikes drafting Iowa players. The NFL is a business, and if the players they draft help, then I'm all for it. I'm glad they have Greenway also.

Foolish pick. Look at the Pro Bowl. Look at the NFL QBs of the playoff teams. The only really "mobile" qb was Vick. How did that work out after the Vikes showed other teams how to fluster him?

While mobility is nice, such as GB's Rodgers has, you pass the ball to win the game. Give me a pocket passer all day that knows what he is doing.

I would have a very difficult time cheering for the Vikes with Newton at QB. I think Webb has a similar game and is already on the roster, so he would be a much better option.

Hey Joe, good to see you outside of the Cave where I can say that I 100% agree with this post! The only team I could see picking Cam Newton is Oakland, and that's because Al Davis is a moron and a glutton for punishment.

Cam Newton won't be that good in the NFL. I see him as another Dante Culpepper and not another Michael Vick. He is not fast enough to shred NFL defenses like he did in college. His arm is not strong enough to make up for it. As a Packer fan I hope they chose Newton. I was scared the Vikings might take a good QB. This does not scare me.

Cam Newton will be better than Jake Locker, but I don't want the Vikings to take him.

If they did, I still wouldn't change my tune on him, it's just that now he'll be a professional football player and treated as such. Not a professional football player allowed to play collegiately.

I won't change my tune if Cam comes to the Vikings and actually does well. I've always said that he was a very good player this last season, but he was never an amateur.

All I know is, the Vikings need several QBs. Having an old white guy and any-young(ish)-black-guy-because-they're-all-superfast-and-agile isn't working, and is stupid to begin with.

The Vikes will sign Vince Young and also draft Ryan Mallet in the first round.

DC was nothing to sneeze at. He was certainly struggling the year he hurt his knee but he could have likely continued if he was healthy. Not that he was going to the HOF, but probably still better than most guys you could expect to draft.

Oh, and I don't want Cam.

If i were in the vikes front office i would offer a 2nd rounder this year for kyle orton and then with my first pick would be Adrian Clayborn...

Leave that D-bag for some other poor franchise...

The Vikes need an accurate thrower who thrives on the play action and that guy is Orton...decent cap room number for a starter and you can keep your good young players coming due for a new contract like Greenway....

Good Luck Vikes, my wife would really enjoy it if you would simply kick the crap out of the packers every year!!!!

Whatever is going on in Green Bay is working. To make a SB after those injuries, and only going to a 3-4, what, like 2 years ago? Quite impressive. Their roster moves have been great the last couple years. And yes it pains me to type that as a Vike fan.

On a side note, I met Al Davis in Beverly Hills at a deli. He was in a Raiders track suit and everything. This was late 90's so he wasn't all crazy uncle yet. Was rather pleasant and loved chatting football.

I think Cam has the "potential" to be a good NFL QB. That said, I wouldn't want my team to take him in the first round. He relies too much on his athletic ability to make the play and that won't work out as well for him against NFL defenses.

Oh, and despite not liking the Hawks, I respect and sometimes cheer for them when they get to the NFL, but only if they are on teams I like.
