I have to think we will go with 2 bigs next year since we'll have a rotation of Jacobson, Lard, Solo & Conditt. The backcourt will have THT, Wiggs & Halliburton returning plus the addition of Prentiss Nixon.

I guess it's possible Prohm will want to stick with 4 guards but it seems to me that putting the best 5 on the court would result in 2 bigs. Hopefully that will improve our rebounding.

It depends on what happens with Wigginton and THT.

If everyone is back we have to play 2 bigs and 3 guards. It would a total waste of valuable minutes if we have Lard/Solo/Jacobson/Conditt splitting 40 minutes.

Wigginton
Haliburton
THT
Solo/Lard
Jacobson/Conditt

Nixon is the 6th man and plays a role similar to Lindell this year, 25 mpg.
Leech gets 10-15 minutes a game
Lewis transfers at the end of the year
Griffin get 5-10 spot minutes
Jackson/Anderson don't see the floor much after December.

I really hope Prohm plays 2 bigs. I'm so tried of watching us get out-rebounded.
PG Wigginton (I don't see him leaving for the NBA)
SG Halliburton
SF THT
F Jacobson ( I like him better at the 4 because he can knock down 3's)
C Lard
6 Man Nixon

If Wiggs is the PG we are going to tear our hair out. He might give away the ball to the other team more than he does to his teammates.

Also I feel Prentice will be the starting PG and Halliburton comes off the bench.

THT and Wiggs will be back. Either that or they will be in Europe or at best the G league. They are not NBA caliber players right now by any means.

I think Halliburton should be the starting PG next year. If he's not a star PG, then I don't know what one is.

PG - Haliburton
G - Wigginton
G - THT
F - Jacobsen
F - Lard

A few caveats/points to the above.

1.) Tyrese is a natural distributor and Wigginton and THT are your scorers. TH at PG no question about it.
2.) Wigginton needs one more year. The team is truly his and THTs next year. I could see him play himself into a 1st round draft pick after his junior year.
3.) For that lineup to work Jacobsen needs to be able to stretch the floor with more consistency. Dude needs to shoot 500 jump shots a day over the summer and become a 35%ish 3 point shooter.
4.) Personally think Leech may be an enormous sleeper. If he is 100% healthy we are in business.

I feel like two of the big guys are going to have to develop a consistent jumper.

And the ability to chase wings around screens. I haven’t seen anything that leads me to believe that any of the bigs are capable of defending a mobile stretch 4.

History indicates that size isn’t the most important factor in grabbing rebounds.

Do you think all 4 “bigs” will return next season? I really hope they do but the way things go these days...

Doubtful Wigg comes back: Nixon, Halliburton, THT, Jacobson, Lard. Griffin, Conditt, Leech off the bench

This is as it stands now. I bet we add someone else for 2019-20.

Jacobsen and Solo will be back for sure.

I think both Lard and Conditt will be, but not as certain about them.

Wiggs would be really dumb not to do another year in college IMO. You have a much better chance making the NBA straight from college than you do by going through the G League IMO. Same goes for THT.... he's not ready yet at all. Shows flashes at times, but not consistent enough at all.

I'm excited to see what Tre Jackson and Leech might be able to give us next year, as well as Nixon.

I bet Wigginton is leaving. CSP needs to teach everyone how to rebound in the off season or now I should say. The Baylor game at home was embarrassing. Rebound and we win by 10-12 points. I really like Conditt and wish there was an opportunity to get him more minutes.

You're probably right about Wiggs leaving, but right now he's not even the best player on this team, so I think it would be a really big mistake for him.

He has a LOT of things he needs to work on still IMO. His handle has not been good this season, his vision on his passing has not been very good (turnovers), his FG shooting hasn't been great, etc.

But he'll do whatever he wants, and I'll wish him nothing but the best. I just think another year at ISU where he's healthy all year would be his best chance at being in the NBA.

Oh absolutely. He clearly needs another year to refine his game. I just have a feeling ready or not he's going to declare.

Wiggintons team next year with a top 15 caliber roster. Hed be smart to invest one more year and head for the draft after his junior season. He said all along his goal is to walk across the platform as a first round draft pick and shake the commissioners hand.

CW had...

Haliburton
Nixon
Horton-Tucker
Conditt
Jacobson

My own WAG...

Haliburton
Wigginton
Horton-Tucker
Jacobson
Lard
---
Nixon
Leech
Conditt
Young

+ spot minutes for anybody after that

Haliburton takes over at PG, and Wigginton replaces Shayok as a starter.

TH, LW, and Nixon take turns bringing the ball up the court.

We swap the fourth guard to a stretch position -- Jacobson, maybe Conditt.

Nixon (experience) and Leech (overall talents) backup the established guards. The starters each play 30+ a night, leaving roughly 30 (and maybe some extra if and when we go small in bursts, like we did during the 2016-2017 season) minutes available.

So maybe 20 and 15 for those two in some combination.

Solomon is used situational when bad Lard shows up or we need some muscle.

The four big men each play about 20 per night.

Even without Wigginton, we have a pretty talented and experience roster coming back for next year. I think the program is of high quality and has a sustainable line of talent.
