Walk-ons and new recruits are on the roster

Walk-ons, some interesting ones. Most we knew about!

Fr. QB Brett Bueker 6-3 200 Bettendorf, Iowa
Fr. WR Hunter Burke 6-0 175 W. Salem, Wis.
Fr. WR Chris Campbell 5-10 175 Cherokee, Iowa
Fr. OL George Clampett 6-2 250 Arlington Heights, Ill.
Fr. OL Drew Davis 6-8 300 Dubuque, Iowa
Fr. TE Vince Ewald 6-5 220 Taylor Ridge, Ill.
So. OL Hayworth Hicks 6-3 323 Palmdale, Calif.
Fr. P Chad Powell 5-11 185 Parker, Texas
Fr. DS Zac Tucker 6-0 230 Wichita, Kan.
- DS Dakota Zummerman 6-0 230 Wichita, Kan.

Hicks was a two star juco with offers from Arizona, Ole Miss, Oregon State, San Diego State, UNLV, Utah, Washington State.

I wouldn't be surprised if maybe one or two of those guys are greyshirting. It might also just be a few guys that were accidentally left off. My guess is at least one guy didn't show with a guy like Hayworth Hicks on the list now.

I forgot Tuftee had the knee thing going on so he is likely out. The other two I am not sure what the deal is. I was kind of interested to see what the Canadian guy brought to the table (Laing).

Pretty sure Tuftee is, but not sure about Laing. Maybe 33 can provide some insight.

I'm thinking Maggitt must not have made grades or something.

Tuftee tore his ACl in game two of his senior season I believe. He's attending a local community college and will be at ISU eventually. No word on his prognosis at this point but I'll ask and report back.

Tuffee was going to a junior college for the semester and then joins the team in January. He was doing that to recover from the knee injury without taking a scholarship up in the fall.

Looks like the only ones who won't make it to Ames as of now are Maggitt and Laing.

You never know about Laing, sometimes it takes extra time for foreigners to make it through the clearinghouse. Or, do you have some inside info?

I really wonder if this roster means anything at all. I thought that Harper was probably going JUCO. If he and Haughton made it, I'd say ISU still came out ahead.

I heard confirmation that Haughton made it....not sure about Harper, but was dang happy to see him listed.

If Haughton's senior class just graduated in the last week/10 days, that's awfully quick to get through the Clearing House.

Also a reason that I'd expect Laing to be held up until late August. I guess we'll see when we find out who's in town for summer workouts.

Haughton made it. I was told by someone who absolutely knows. There were concerns about his grades and that is why we got him. But we took a chance and it paid off. A very big catch indeed. I was also told that we did exceptionally well in landing the DB's that we were after. I noticed that Kennard Banks was on the list on Cyclones.com

So what's a pre-med major like Haughton major in at ISU? Not being sarcastic, that is really what he was planning on majoring in and I don't know what ISU has to offer there besides your normal undergrad core curriculum. Whatever it is, I am happy as hell to have him because he gives us the ability to put him on the DL if need be (and we are always looking for players there). This is another guy the big guns would have gotten had it not been for grade concerns. Hopefully it works out for both him and the Clones.

Off Topic, but "pre-med" isn't really a major. It's a set of specific course (organic chem, calc, physics, biology, etc.) that all medical schools require. A music major could go to med school if they had the grades, activities, volunteer hours, and all of the pre-med courses. A lot of pre-med students I know here are Kinesiology/Exercise Science majors.
