NEW THREAD: INFO, '09 commit - Laron Dendy

If you actually really read when I'm getting at, I'm not really trying to bash you guys. I am more bashing those who put 100% stock into what you're saying without seeing for themselves.

It cracks me up when you say that my knowledge of the game is very shallow. I watch probably 2 or 3 college basketball games per week sprinkled in with some NBA games. I come from Minneapolis where Hopkins/Minnetonka games not only sell out but have scalpers. The problem is that too many of you are watching high school basketball in Iowa which is historically pretty poor in producing Division I BCS talent. I actually had friends and classmates who were going to Marquee programs, so I've seen some of the recruiting and such.

You can say what you want about me having shallow knowledge for the game. I bet I watch more so than most on this board. The truth is that I can evaluate players without being emotionally caught up in it as a fan. Which is why I tick off so many of you probably. If I think a player isn't going to be good, I am not rooting against them, or hoping they aren't good. I'm just telling it how it is.

I would like to know how you come off as thinking you're basketball knowledge is so superior to mine when I can find post after post after post with you being dead wrong about things.

In the end, everyone is wrong from time to time and I am as well. Different from you, however, I don't advertise myself as an insider. People aren't coming for me on the "inside" scoop. If they did, I would have a responsibilty for either a) doing a better job OR b) saying that I don't know as much as people want to try to give me credit for. You do neither.

I know people like your posts and all of that and I am just trying to caution them by taking what you say with a grain of salt, since it's been so long since you've been correct about a recruit.

You are awesome!!:jimlad:

Two gold stars for you. I one day, aspire to reach the level of awesomeness you are on.

Just because you watch doesn't mean you understand it...You don't have to believe me, but I would quit posting like I knew, if I didn't. I'm just saying you have proven...you don't. Take it for what it's worth.

kg-cyclone & cyismydog,

Thanks for all the great posts and information. I have really enjoyed the information you have passed along, many times sooner and more accurate than some "experts" on other sites.

+1

Yeah you're right. I bet NOT watching would be a better way to go. Because coaches, scouts, etc., don't watch games right??

No...they do...I'm also guessing they are slightly better at breaking down tape.

I actually would love to see you sit in on a film session and explain why you are right...I think it would be a learning experience for you.

And you're so good right? I mean you do this for a living as well, correct?

I don't know the extent of your knowledge mpls, but prior to this year when I gave up cable I would probably watch basketball every day of the week. I don't feel like it makes me have more knowledge than anybody else. In fact I bet I have less than most.

It seems like you're trying to prove KG is arrogant and inaccurate - I just want you to know you're the one appearing that way now. Everybody is going to be wrong and I think he'd even admit he is a homer. You can go back to the prediction thread before this season, I was exactly right as to our nonconference and conference record. That proves nothing as far as my knowledge goes. You make enough statements you're going to get some right and you'll get some wrong. Just let it go dude.

8 year olds dude, 8 year olds

Well Dendy we're looking forward to seeing you in the Cardinal & Gold, good luck this offseason and we'll see you in Hilton

Sure...lets do it...Always enjoy a good pick up game. You can have another learning experience:wink:

Well I live in Ames, so anytime. I am a little out of shape, but I have played pick up with Kris Humphries before, so I don't really know how much of a learning experience you will be, but I'm willing to find out.

That's the thing though. I'm not coming off as being all knowledgeable and absolute truth. I just pointed out he's been wrong with some things and he said that my knowledge of the game is shallow and that he wouldn't even waste time explaining things to me.

Regarding yourself or even myself, the point here isn't being right or wrong. I mean you got stuff right which is awesome. But at the same time people aren't like "BryceC man, tell me what's going on".

Like I said, we all have our thoughts and opinions and that's what this site is supposed to be about. When we start having "experts" not coming through, then I think it's time to stop weighing their opinions so heavily.

Translation: Come on I have a BLOG people respect my authoritah!

mpls you don't need to be the beacon of truth showing the huddling masses that certain posters aren't the end all be all. It has been discussed en masse how most everyone takes all the OPINIONS expressed here with a grain of salt.

This has become a silly argument. I know more about sports than you! Etc

Listen I agree w/ some of what mplscyclone is saying. Some posters do hang onto every word that cyismydog and kg say. It gets a tad annoying but oh well. They provide some good insight (except on Kelm...just kidding cy! )

Let's kiss and make up

Whether we like it or not, they do know what's going on to a larger extent than we do within the program. They go to practices and see these guys out of game situations. So naturally some people want to know what their opinion is. I don't see why that is a problem or a bad thing.

I'm always telling my kids to "worry about yourself".

How about everyone can just decide who they think is knowledgable, and who is not, and we can all go about our day without the bickering.

I dunked on Mark Baugh at State Gym beotch.
