My wife and I are under contract to purchase a house. However, it doesn't come with a Refrigerator and we will need to buy one. What are some brands to stay away from when doing our research, I've heard stay away from LG or Samsung, but wanted to know others opinions.

We are currently in a renting situation, so we are unable to bring our appliances to the house.

We have had great luck with Kitchenaid, but as of right now their back orders are nuts. Also, I will never again go back to a side by side fridge/freezer. We went french door fridge and it was life changing.

I'm going to watch this thread closely. The vixen is making noise about a new fridge also, she wants one with the ice and water on the door. Which means yours truly will have to fork out lots of cash so the plumber can come over and run a water line.

Everyone else in her family has a fridge roughly the size of North Grand Mall.....who needs that much food in the house?

I think we are looking at the same as well. We have a 36 in width of space, which is enough for a French door.

Ice maker is mandatory for this purchase, so it will probably also have water at the door as well. Not sure if we will buy one that produces ice only at the door, or it it will have an ice tray also.

Everything I have seen lately has a very small ice container in door. We are lucky we have a second old fridge in the pantry that has a massive one. We also like to host parties though, so we go through ice hard in short amounts of time.

I think we open the freezer door more often than the refrigerator door. Mainly due to the ice cube bin being in the door and when you open the door is right at chest level so it is quicker put cubes in a glass than to go through the process through sticking glass in the front to get them.

Our Whirlpool is about 15 years old side by side. Just replaced the ice maker a couple of months ago and replaced the motor for the ice cube crusher a couple of years ago.

I will also pull it out and take off the rear cover along with the front cover and blow out the coils out once every year or to. Fridges are dust magnet!

I have an LG.... It was the only one that fit the space in my kitchen. I bought it in 2017 and already had 2 service calls to come out and fix it. To be fair, the 1st call was improperly diagnosed and so they had to come out a 2nd time. My point is: If you buy the LG, get the extended warranty.

If Bosch makes a fridge, go for it. I have a Bosch dishwasher and it's killer good.

I think we are looking to spend around $2,000, so Bosch is a little out of the range. And they do make fridges, I just googled it.

While their TV's and handhelds are great I know so many people that have had issues with Samsung appliances.

I've had an LG French door fridge for 9 years, been great.
It produces ice and dispenses water thru the left door. The only issue I've ever had is that if you have large parties/family gatherings its tough to keep up ice production.

We’ve had the is one for a few years now and have zero complaints. We like having the extra drawer for the fruits and veggies. We’ve always had good luck with the whirlpool brand for appliances (Whirlpool, Maytag, Kitchenaid and Amana).

I don't know where you heard LG being bad. In CR, they are tops on most appliances.

French door/Bottom Freezer. The highest rated for 30 inch and below
LG LFC22770ST
LG LFCS22520S
GE GNE21FSKSS
We have the GE model listed here or something very similar to it and are very happy. We do have a standalone freezer though and could see that freezer alone being on the small side.

I would never recommend a French door style. We've had a tremendous amount of trouble with ours. Doesn't shut easily and leaks. Which isn't spectacular for my wood flooring.

Got this one a few years ago when the old one died. I like having the freezer on the bottom, keeps everything in the fridge at eye level. There’s an ice maker in the freezer but I never ran a water line
