New Dishwasher Recommendations

We picked up a Kitchen Aid at LOWES clearance area here in NC. It has been great - extremely quite.
When we sold our house in Ames, we had a Bosch - I feel Bosch are the best and usually the quietest. We just couldn’t pass up the price on the KA, 500$ off.
Just checked consumer reports - top three are Bosch

make sure tube is stainless, and gofor lowest DBA

We have an Amana and it’s garbage. I convinced my wife to get it because it was dirt cheap and she thought she wanted white appliances. I knew she’d change her mind and guess what happened. We currently have a stainless whirlpool fridge (bought after the dishwasher), a black GE gas range, the white Amana dishwasher and a black and stainless microwave. I look forward to finally buying the Bosch I wanted in the first place. Our appliances will match eventually.

Last time we were looking, the dude at NFM told us to play a song on our phone and put it in the floor models. It will give you an idea of how quiet they will be when comparing.

Does anyone have any experience with the new Crystal Dry on the 800 series? Thought it would be good but the guy at NFM told me the Kitchen Aid still dries better.

KitchenAids do dry better than the Bosch washers, unquestionable. The newer KA's also have a more functional third rack than most, designed to hold glasses/coffee cups/utensils. I thought it was just going to be a gimmicky feature, but it works awesome. And it is super quiet. We did not buy an appliance package, ended up with a LG fridge, Whirlpool stove/microwave, and Kitchenaid dishwasher, but got the features she wanted in everything.

Had the crystal dry installed 2 weeks ago. Works pretty good no complaints. It dries much better than our old machine.

Planning on getting a dishwasher as the house we recently bought doesn't have one. I've seen wild-ranging estimates, but has anyone dealt with installing a dishwasher with no previous plumbing set up for it?

If you can put it near the sink, it's no big deal. Do you have the under cabinet cut-out for it already?

I did it myself with some help from a friend. Its a relatively easy process, just takes some time. The space to the right of my sink had a row of drawers and a cupboard that was the perfect width.
I bought a Milwaukee multi tool to help in the process and that was extremely helpful in cutting out the floor of the cuppbard/drawers. Bought a water splitter, put that into the shutoff valve at the kitchen sink. I don't have a garbage disposal so I had to replace the drains under the sink with one that could accept a dishwasher drain. Was close enough to a junction box that we could draw power from it with a quick hole drilled through the floor.

I had to have the plumbing and heating guy come by to address my air conditioning shortly after and had him take a look at our work on the dishwasher while he was there just as a little piece of mind.

Super easy, especially if theres currently a disposal.

MAKE SURE TO PUNCH OUT THE HOLE

Bosch is good but I'd go Purple Monkey.

either this or Rosie the Robot. As it stands right now, Purple Monkey costs too many banannas. I hear that Rosie, however may have parts issues later on.

Resurrecting this thread as I'm in the market, and need a pulse check on owners' experiences to date. Specific model #'s would be helpful.

TIA

We have a Kitchen Aid dishwasher, microwave and range. I really like the dishwasher and microwave. The oven has nice options but the bottom drawer for pot and pan lids is small and cheap. I'd rather not have a drawer than have that. For the fridge I had to get the Samsung with the smart features.
I was set to buy the top-of-the-line Bosch with cash in hand to replace a 12-year-old Whirlpool. Got to the store (F&A Mart) and some guy was just returning a stainless steel Kitchen Aid model that was partly installed. The store owner asked if I was interested in taking it off his hands for $250 (a steal) originally over $800. Quiet yes! Love it after three years.

Everyone ***** on Samsung appliances but I have had great experiences with them.

I would highly recommend one with a third rack whatever brand you choose.

Same deal with LG. Well over 5 years with washer, dryer, dishwasher, range and fridge and absolutely no problems with them. Have been flawless.

We just bought a maytag at menards a month ago, for $899 minus the 11% rebate. Love it so far. Cleans good, quiet, steel inside. Has the skinny top 3rd rack, which is awesome; gf was super skeptical but now loves it.

Not highest rated on CR, but close enough to be acceptable.

Model is MDB8959SKB.

We bought a new Bosch in February. Mrs Best is very pleased. The salesman told us that they should only have a life expectancy of 5 or 6 years:(.

You know how you turn a dishwasher into a snowblower? Nsfw
