Nerlens Noel is going back to the 2012 class and will be a senior this year. Not sure if we have any shot at all with him, but having Georges Niang to work on him can't hurt. It will be hard to bet against Big East schools for Noel. he is visiting Syracuse for their Midnight Madness event along with teammate Jaylen Brantley. Really, really need Noel to come with Georges for a visit on October 22.

Speaking of Midnight Madness events, I wonder if Fred has something in the works this year? Last year he hinted that he may want to do something, but with Hilton still being repaired due to late summer flooding it wasn't possible.

I personally think this hurts our chances as we technically don't have any scholarship spots available for 2012 and do for 2013. However, this doesn't necessarily mean we can't get him, but I doubt a guy like Noel will go for a potential 2012 scholarship spot at ISU when he has a ton of other premium options. On top of this, if he were in the 2013 class, he would have a chance to see our ISU team do some winning, which would only help. Again, I think this hurts our chances.

Where did you hear this? I haven't seen anyone pick up on this and I would know it would be making the rounds if true...

Just looking for some credible evidence...

Scout is reporting it today, Evan Daniels. As you know it has been rumored for some time. They say part of the reason is Noel wants to play in a McDonalds AA game and if he is part of 2013 class he won't qualify as McDonalds wont take 5th year seniors. Now plans could change and Noels recruitment is obviously behind schedule, but that is what they are saying for now.

I'm assuming Noel will likely sign in the spring. Another thing to keep in mind with him is the new NBA CBA and whether or not the Draft eligibility rules will be changed. If they go to a two-and-done rule, his AAU coach has hinted Noel may go overseas for a couple of years instead of playing college hoops.

I couldn't find anything on his Twitter and don't see anything on the Scout site as of right now, do you have a link of any sorts?!?

I just don't believe that this is 100% as if it were there would be a lot more news about it.

Looking through Twitter it looks like the first report of someone saying explicitly that it was occurring was "PasstheCool_Aid" a 13 year old Providence fan. I have not seen any of the reputable scouting guru's passing along similar information...

I believe it is still only rumors at this time and he is still considering the change, but not official.

no I can't link it because its part of their premium story off their front page "Recruiting Report". If you have to wait for someone to tweet about it to be official, then I guess you don't have to take my word for it. And as I said in my original post, plans can change, nothing is official until Nerlens actually graduates this year, but again that appears to be the plan with him signing in the spring.

I was just looking for clarification of some sorts, never questioned that you did not see it somewhere... By the sounds of it is that he does plan to re-classify 'barring a major change' in his schoolwork, but it doesn't sound like anyone else is putting it 100% and for now he remains a part of the 2013 class.
