I bought something in an online auction about a month before Christmas. It was from a reputable auction house in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The item I bought was in an auction with about 1500 lots. They have these auctions at least once a week and sometimes more. I still have not received the package but I emailed the auction house about a week ago and they said due to the volume of shipments, they are way behind and my package had not been sent yet, but it would be sent in the next couple of weeks.

So ... I get a text today from someone calling themselves U.S.P.S-Postal, saying they have a package for me in their transit warehouse that has the wrong address on it and asking me to provide the correct address. My initial thought is SCAM in capital letters. How did they get my phone number to text me? How do they know it's the wrong address? Is it just a coincidence that I'm expecting a package from Canada at about the same time? I don't know what to do. I've emailed the auction house asking them about it, but they haven't responded yet.

Have you googled the phone number they sent the text from?

Package would go back to sender if it's undeliverable. Don't respond

Scam. I've gotten something like that before too.

It's a coinkydink and a scam. A coinkyskink.

Besides, if anything remotely like that was feasible, they would call the SENDER. Not the person to whom the package was actually "addressed" with the "wrong address".

If I were you, I might doublecheck on that auction house. Sounds fishy to be that they just are so "overwhelmed" with purchases.

Its a Scam. I have gotten same thing or similar before. Well known scam. Just contact auction house directly if you have a question. Dont respond to that link. It is no different than the Prince of Persia needing to send you money.

I got that same text today, I just assume SCAM
I got one yesterday about an issue with my First National debit card. I don't have a First National account

The problem is, I am expecting a package. I just got an email today from the Canadian postal service stating that the package had been shipped by the auction house and was on its way and even included the name of the online auction house and a tracking link, so I'm sure this time, that the email is genuine. There was none of that information in the first email.
