That would take a lot more than that for Nebby.Probably should use that half billion to buy themselves a competitive football team
I went to a game there back in the Troy Davis years. Sat in the south end zone as well. Crammed in there like sardines. Once you were in your seat you weren't going anywhere until halftime.I went to a game there and sat in that south endzone I think in 2015. Absolutely atrocious to be honest. It was a maze getting to your seats. No concourse, just a winding path through a bunch of girders. Reminded me of Memphis' stadium for those that went to that bowl game.
The price tag is absurd but they could use a pretty huge renovation there. They got Big 10 money coming and a hefty NIL situation so now is not a bad time.
I wonder what Penn State was looking at building for that much. Jerry's World in Dallas was only $1.3B back in the mid 2000s.Penn State chose to renovate after it estimated a $1.5 billion cost to build new. They are spending $700 million to renovate. A and M spent $500 million ten years ago to renovate Kyle Field (Had to have higher capacity than UT).
AT&T starting to look like a deal. MetLife was 1.7B, Allegiant was 1.9B and SoFi was a whopping 5.5B.I wonder what Penn State was looking at building for that much. Jerry's World in Dallas was only $1.3B back in the mid 2000s.

Construction costs have almost doubled in the last 15 years. 15 years ago, Pella Christian paid $20 million for a new high school. SE Polk just paid that for a high school football stadium. A new elementary for a Class 1A school, built on land that the district already owns now costs $35 million.I wonder what Penn State was looking at building for that much. I was wondering if the 5.5 for SoFi was just the stadium itself or if they had some additional development around that. Given the price it seems like that could be stadium plus something.AT&T starting to look like a deal. MetLife was 1.7B, Allegiant was 1.9B and SoFi was a whopping 5.5B.
For those of you who haven’t been to a game there (and consider yourselves blessed), it is essentially Wrigley Field pre-renovations. Really bad.
I agree Nebby needs to do something to modernize the football stadium. But for that price tag, I'm in the camp of building from scratch. They would have a blank canvas to create a stadium/experience fans would enjoy. But maybe land isn't available for them to do so. It's been a while since I've been in Lincoln, but the current stadium seemed to be in a dense part of campus
$4B is the number that keeps popping up for the Bears but I'm pretty sure that includes a new Halas Hall and some other development.I was wondering if the 5.5 for SoFi was just the stadium itself or if they had some additional development around that. Also curious if the Bears have put up a potential price tag.
