I do enjoy this.
Bingo.Overall, wrestlers that go deep in March can ride. Not necessarily turn an opponent but certainly ride; shortens the clock, tires the opponent and makes them plus 1 with riding time.
Carr and Coleman have those qualities. They are the full package. But as a team we need to work on mat skills. Bottom and top. We too often have to go 2 for 1s.
That said we have some damn fine offensively talented wrestlers. We just need to put more focus on the mat skills, imho.
While disappointing if I compare yesterday to what I thought the end tournament results would be we aren’t that far off.
33- Redding. As expected.
41- Swiderski can make a little run on the backside. I like his next 2-3 matchups
57- still alive and wrestling. That wasn’t guaranteed
Carr- as expected
Coleman- as expected
YB- he didn’t pull the major upset. I hoped he could. It was close but I’m not upset by the performance.
Sam- I thought we would get the NW kid. How it ended with the slam and extra escape point sucks. But if I’m being realistic he was getting past Paris. Drop to the backside and start kicking ass to the podium.
Today is the day where we see what this team is made of. Everyone is still alive and we have the chance to move up in the standings.
I would throw Redding in that group as well, but he could improve as could everyone. Being able to ride Biscoglia helped greatly in both of his recent matches with him.Bingo.
Outside of Kraisser, Carr, Coleman, and Sam I would be interested in seeing the average ride time to start 2nd or 3rd period.. They are closer to 10 secs than they are 30 sec. Hell you can get 10 sec running someone off the mat once. Watch the Elams.
Yeah he is def. much improved. He loves that cutback on top, and rolling when on bottom. Both have got him in some trouble. If he can get another shot to supplement his ducks he will be really good.I would throw Redding in that group as well, but he could improve as could everyone. Take a look at all wrestlers still on the front side. Tough rides may not necessarily come out every match, but it's in the bag if they need it.
