NCAA Tournament Wrestling Brackets

Yeah, not many favors from the seeding committee. Do we know what the final team scores would be if everyone wrestled to their seed with no bonus points?

The 8 and 9 seeds get the #1 in the quarterfinals if they get there.

Not sure how Brestrer gets #1 over Varner when Varner beat him 2 out of 3 and much more convincingly than the win that Brester eeked out last week. I guess its all about what have you done lately.

Yeah, the seeding always favors the most recent results. Quick thoughts:
-Mitch Mueller (149), Cyler Sanderson (157), Duke Burk (174) and Jerome Ward (184) will have a hard time staying in the championship bracket past Thursday night.
-Nick Gallick (141) has wrestled and beaten Cleveland and Jaggers. If he can do it again, he'd get a rematch against Tanelli from Wisconsin in the semis.
-Zabriskie (HWT) will have at least three overtime matches in this tournament.
-Tyler Clark (125) and Nick Fanthorpe (133) have tough but winnable draws.

-Iowa is seeded pretty well. They're even heavier favorites in my mind, now, though I haven't looked at Cornell or Ohio State's seeding.
-Oklahoma State could easily finish out of the top 7 with a bad tournament, despite qualifying nine. Tough draws all around.

Every match down at the national tourney is a tough match!

I thought that alot of the clones got pretty good draws.

Name (Round they should make it into at least)
Clark (QF), Fanthrope (QF), Gallick (QF), Sanderson (2nd), Reader(QF), Burk(winnable 1st round), Varner (Semi/ Finals), and Z (QF/Semi)

Mueller and Ward got really tough draws but thats what happens when you don't get seeded.

Eek. Tough, tough draws for these guys.

I was a bit surprised to see Brester get the #1 over Varner, but it seemed the NCAA felt Varner didn't deserve it after his meltdown in the conference tournament. That's fair. His draw is not really worse than Brester's and I hope they rematch in the finals. Varner best be hungry to win it all.

Based on how we have performed this year I don't see us winning it all after seeing these seedings. However, if we go through a similar mentality change like the guys did after losing to Iowa then maybe we'll surprise some people.

Wrestling to seed with no bonus points and assuming this scoring system here are the top 5 teams:
1st = 20 points
2nd = 16 points
3rd = 13.5 points
4th = 12.5 points
5th = 10 points
6th = 9 points
7th = 6.5 points
8th = 5.5 points
Seeded 9th through 12th = 2 points as you need to win at least once on the championship side and probably twice if you lose your first match to finish in this range even though it isn't AA status.
Unseeded = 0 points but will probably result in some

Team totals based on seeds:
Iowa 103.5
Ohio St 64.5
Nebraska 62
ISU 61.0
Cornell 60.5

Edit: I forgot about Nebraska

You're 1 short on advancement points for each person. The champ will have 21, runner-up 17, etc. Doesn't change the team placings, but does change the points.

You are correct, so here are the points adding that in that I found on another site.

1. Iowa, 111.5
2. Missouri, 70
3. Ohio State, 69.5
4. Iowa State, 68
5. Nebraska, 67
6. Cornell, 65.5

How many points would a champion score if he pinned his way through? We have not been good at getting bonus points so I wonder how bad this will hurt us.
