Place your bets.

Vegas has Iowa State at 100 : 1 odds of winning the NCAA tournament.

Obviously, the odds are never in your favor, even for the team who scores the overall #1 seed. But if you're a betting man, I'd argue now is the time to do it. Because at this stage in the game, we appear to be a bargain.

Iowa is at 40:1
3-loss Kansas is at 13:2
OSU is also at 13:2

In fact, nearly all the teams in the top 25 have less generous odds than ISU. Full current odds for reference:

Those will change periodically, so the odds I posted above won't be accurate for long.

I have $100 on ISU (= $10k payout). Do I think we'll win? No, who would. But I like the chances that we're a bargain. Essentially, I'm betting that that 100:1 odds will decrease before tournament time. I'm hoping to somewhere in the 20:1 territory.

Prairie Meadows would not.

There are online sports books. I've never used one, you'd have to do some research into which is best but plenty of people use them. I was going to give a friend the $100 to take to Vegas for me, until a different friend (who accepts any bet at Vegas odds) took me up on the bet. He has no problem being on the hook for $10k. In fact, I think he wants to see ISU make the finals so we can have the craziest game watch together ever.

Why does Vegas love the Hawks so much. Still a lack of respect for what ISU has done thus far.
Iowa has the kind of team that might do pretty well in the tourney.....I know people are tired of hearing it, but they do have really good depth. It's all about matchups in the tourney, if you can play a lot of guys you don't have to worry about a key player fouling out as much as a team does with less depth. I was impressed with them, if they don't miss free throws they win that game in Hilton.

Except last year 3 of the final 4 teams didn't go deeper than 8 deep except for a few mins of spot play. Only 2 sweet 16 team went more than 8 deep, with half of them playing 7.

Vegas doesn't love anything except money.

The odds follow the bets. The gamblers are the ones who love Iowa.

Makes sense... gamblers are typically degenerates, junkies, or morons. Something tells me that the gamblers that love Iowa are hitting a trifecta in those categories.

Iowa's Depth, which is overrated IMO, is not an advantage in the tourney. The officials in the Tourney tends to call less fouls and lets teams play, especially Sweet 16 and beyond. Maybe it will be different this year with the new rules but I doubt it.

Depth doesn't matter in the NCAA tournament. I hope we have an 8th guy step up soon, but we'll be fine if no one emerges in that role. Even if you play Fri/Sun and then Thu/Sat, conditioning is never a problem. Depth only helps in conference tournaments.

This seems like a year where it might make sense to play the field.

This will never happen.

I think you vastly underestimate the power of money. For the new Vikings stadium, they passed a tax on gambling revenue from the horse track to help pay for it. Politicians, (which the supreme court is full of) when they can start taxing these sports bets, will pass it in a heartbeat.

Got Iowa State at 125 to 1 on New Years Eve. I couldn't put my $10 down fast enough.

I passed on BYU at 100 to 1.

Look likes the smart money is going to Iowa at 30 to 1. lol

Please don't even start with the no respect thing. The odds move with the money.

Exactly. All the Iowa people who made a trip to vegas have probably been betting pretty hard for their Hawks. I'm sure most consider it easy money since the Hawks are easily the best team in the Nation, doing it the right way and with depth.
