NCAA TOURNAMENT PAYOUT MORE THAN A DROP IN THE BUCKET

So the ACC has a minimum of 19 units (7-6-6), the Big12 has a minimum of 13 (7-3-3). Divided out per conference member, we're right there with them.

19/14 = 1.36 units per member
13/10 = 1.30 units per member

So while it's not been a great tournament for the Big12 we're still making a bunch of money.
 
I can't believe they pay that out over 6 years. Good grief, the NCAA is a bigger fraud than the lottery and/or structured settlement firms.

Shhh, your not supposed to tell anyone or point out the obvious facts. What happens to the billions they receive from CBS. Is that all upfront or is it paid out over time to diminish the costs.

Oh and don't mention the fact that none of their teams played a seed higher than a 7. I know we didn't either but they have 6 teams in the sweet 16. Awful lucky and probably some help from ....
 
Hoping Coach Prohm gets a nice bonus for advancing in the NCAA. He's been through a lot this year.

Remember that they're paying the last five tournaments along with this year's payout. By spreading that out you avoid large variations in payouts to each conference from year to year. In the end, what you end up is a payout based on a six year running average for units earned in the tournament.

And the NCAA sitting on a $4 billion pile of cash. If they can make 5% on their money, that's $200 million a year they will have to fund themselves above what their cut us.
 
But do they own the NCAA? I don't care who runs them. Who is making all the dough by sitting on $4 Billion dollars and kicking players off teams for getting a Meal from McDonalds. F them.

The NCAA is a not for profit institution. The money not paid for expenses goes back to the schools, ownership if you will, like, say, Iowa State University as an example.

It use to be that the Big 8/12 gave an extra share to the actual participating team thus dividing the funds by 11 instead of 10 and the participating team getting 2 shares.

Each team gets so much for travel. I believe the amount goes up the deeper you go.

Im talking $$ from the conference before the leftover is divided.
 
The NCAA has a lots of schools they look after. They have 3 different divisions. It's just another case for the big conferences to break off and form their own governing body. Because of the money involved in the NCAA tourney I wouldn't be surprised if that doesn't happen in the future.

Not to worry, Bernie Madoff is handling this fund for the NCAA.

I think that is the way they do FB bowl games also. Every B12 team gets a share, irrespective of if they make a bowl, but the participating teams get a travel allowance that comes off the top. More prestigious bowl, bigger budget that allows more staff, band, etc to attend on the conference dime.

That is why it always cracks me up when people say they prefer a certain lower tier bowl over another because of a higher payout. Conference gets the money, not ISU.
 
You would think with us giving nearly $500,000 in guaranteed money already this last week, the Big 12 would get refs that loved us, but whatever

His contract has a 50K bonus for making the tournament, 25K for each win and 250K for a final 4 appearance. So he's got 100K already in bonuses.
 
Got to love "Not-for-profit" organizations who are sitting on $4 Billion dollars. Better then the ones that just give the directors $500,000+/yr salary's.

They have 15 basketball schools so
Big 12 = 1.3 units per member so far
ACC = 1.267 units per member.
