The committee ranks the top 16 teams. When you are towards the bottom of that group its gets pretty likely you won't be placed in your geographic region depending on how all the seeding shakes out. The first two round pods they generally try to put non-seeded teams close to home (they reason we have went to Minnesota, Wisconsin, etc. in recent years). RPI seems to be the biggest factor in seeding most years, but they take a number of other things into account as well.RPI wise we have a shot at hosting, correct? Our RPI is better than coaches rankings. How does this actually get done/evaluated? I assume the strength of the midwest makes it challenging...can't have that many hosts in flyover land. Going to be battling it out with Creighton, Kansas etc with Minnesota and Nebraska/others being shoo ins.
Wisconsin coming here is a horrible draw for us.
How did we and Baylor get a seed, and Kansas not?
I can't believe UCLA got a seed....they didn't take one match against the top 4 teams in the PAC, not 1.
I don't think WI will be thrilled to have to play an in-state rival 1st round, who is pretty good, nor have to play us if we win 1st game on our home court.
I'm happy we're hosting. Very happy. But how is Wisconsin not seeded? They're #10 in RPI, aren't they?
