NCAA Golf Championship - Iowa State

Another thread showed that the last three days will be on the Golf Channel. Not sure for the first three days.

I'm not real familiar with the format. Dates say that this lasts for six days. How many rounds do they play as a team? 3? And then 3 as individuals?

From Cyclones.com

All 30 teams, which includes seven Big 12 programs, and six individuals (156 total golfers) competing will play 54 holes of stroke play on May 25-27, after which the top 15 teams and nine individuals not on an advancing team will be determined. That is followed by a final day of stroke play on May 28 to determine the top eight teams that will advance to match play as well as the 72-hole individual champion.

Match play competition is May 29-30. The Golf Channel will provide live coverage of the event from May 28-30.

Kent State's only ranked golfer (#24) is having a rough start. Currently tied for last at +6 through 4 holes.

EDIT: Must have been a bug in the standings page because he is now at +2 and his scorecard shows he was never at +6.

Wow, no kidding. clicked on your link and see that Stanfords #3 and #4 combined to go 9 over after the first hole.

Ouch. A nine on a par 4 to open things up. How deflating. He finished the next 8 in 1 over, so that's improvement!

I've been in that position before and it sucks (though definitely not a national championship). I used to play a fair amount of competitive golf, but took four years off. My very first tournament back in the game, we teed off on #9. First ball - on the driving range (OB). After a fat approach, a skulled chip over the green, and a few other less than stellar shots, I eventually ended with an 8 on a par 4. I was mortified. But hey, nowhere to go but up from there.....

Anyone watching this? Seems like the morning groups were struggling quite a bit more than expected, and early afternoon groups have been playing someone steady.
