NCAA Ends 4-4 Undergrad Waivers

It looks like they will instead extend the clock of players. I'm almost certain this doesn't apply to the grad transfer rule but I could be wrong. I just found it interesting as we have seen people get these waivers to play immediately on an inconsistent basis and it looks like that will be ended.

That document is hard to understand. The first "clarifying" question to help schools with implementation says,

"Is immediate eligibility an option for any 4-4 undergraduate transfer student-athlete who is not eligible to use the one-time transfer exception or any other transfer exception?"

I didn't understand the question . . . or the answer . . . or the statement of policy to begin with . . . and my job includes writing technical policy for higher education.

I think it means instead of 5th-year player who transfers getting to play in their 5th year, they would need to sit out a year and apply for a 1 year extension to the 5 year clock to get a 6th year of eligibility. What it doesn't discuss if this only applies to student-athletes that haven't graduated or if a graduate transfer has the same rules. Am I interpreting this right, anybody else read it like this or have a different interpretation?

I posted this hoping someone else could understand it but no luck I guess. What I think this means is that if say, a sophomore who has used his redshirt wants to transfer closer to home, they will not be able to apply to compete right away. They will, however, be able to apply for another year.

I don't think this applies to graduates. Remember, you must graduate to get that immediate eligibility like BDJ or Kane. I would have thought they would have touched on that in there.
