NBA Top Shot

A few podcasts I listen to say cashing out is hit or miss

Yeah, sounds like it takes some time to process. I also just noticed they are setting a $30 minimum per withdrawal request.

I'm much too old to understand this. Seems like some sort of scheme that a lot of people are going to think they're sitting on a valuable product only to end up with them being worthless. But I have the same feeling about crypto-currencies, so take that for what it's worth.

That is about how I feel about it. That's why I decided to throw $15 at it to try to learn. I think there is value in these, but they are overvalued at the moment. As long as I'm selling and not buying, I'm ok with it.

I also laughed off cryptocurrencies.

This whole thing has officially been my first "I feel old" moment. I spent at least 30 minutes trying to figure out what the hell this is and am still clueless. I imagine this is what my parents felt like when Facebook came around...

The easiest way it's been explained to me is think of it like trading cards, except instead of paper cards, you get to own a play/moment digitally.

I guess it's every bit as odd as a trading card. My first thought on this is you don't "own" the play/moment, as anyone in the world can still pull it up and see it. But I guess a card is the same way. You don't own that picture of Michael Jordan, anyone can recreate it. But since there is scarcity to the original of it the scarcity controls the market?

I haven't been lucky enough to get a pack, but I've bought and sold in the marketplace. AD and Giannis I'm planning to hold for awhile.

There is a Haliburton dunk against the Raptors for $85. The fandom in me wants that one. Plus Matt Thomas is in the background. The way Haliburton hypes it, I feel like it may be a deal.

Edit: It's gone already, now the cheapest one is $124. Should have pulled the trigger.

There’s a Lebron step back over Luka that went for $77k, I screen capped the play from a YouTube video and I’ll let it go for $20k, serial number 1. PM me.

I don’t get it and I feel like I keep up with things.
I’ve seen a lot of people “flip” these but what’s so cool about having one? I can get the highlight anywhere can’t I

I think that Tyrese actually invested in the company that produces TopShot. That is why he is always talking about it.

I’ll sell you guys a gif for $20.
This is what it sounds like to me but also a great way to launder/side deal all the hooker and blow money that keeps the world going round (or what if you wanted to gift a larger deal of money to someone but bought this item they were selling). I'd guess this isn't Securities and Exchange Commission regulated yet so no taxes and no tax form issused by company dining this? Someone thats hip and young but also knows about SEC regulations educate an older CFer.

You can get the picture on the front of a baseball card anywhere too. What's the difference?
