MLB: Nats sign Strasburg

Insane amount of money but they had to do it. Washington is not in a position where they can afford to lose out on a player like that, especially when they didn't sign their top pick next year. This is a team that's really been playing good ball lately and I give them props for that. Would have been very easy to just lay down and quit months ago but they're playing hard and improving. Got lot's of repsect for teams like that. No respect goes out to my Royals who just lay down and quit every year once the going gets tough.

and it looks like Crow, their first pick last year, may not sign this year either. Now the kid has missed out on two years that he could be moving towards his first real contract and being a college kid (Mizzu), he isn't getting any younger.

The Nats lost any leverage they may have had when Zimmermann, their promising rookie went down with Tommy John.

I'm suprised they actually signed him but yeah that is an absolutely insane amount of money. Before him even pitching in the big leagues I guess this guy is the real deal. He has gotten clocked at 102 mph which so has about 8 other guys in this league. Curious to see how well he does.
