Nadal out at French Open

Djokovic has a legit chance to win all 4 grand slams tournaments during 2021 calendar year which hasn’t been done in decades. This would clearly put him as the GOAT. He already has the better head to head vs Nadal and Federer. Only thing he is behind are total grand slam titles.

I would argue that Federer and Djokovic primes did not quite align. What Federer has done this late in his career with 2 other generational players at their prime is impressive, and that's coming from a Nadal fan. The three of them are just unbelievable.

I love watching all 3 of them play...and while I would rank my personal fandom 1. Federer 2. Nadal 3. Djokovic...all 3 are really easy to root for! They are consummate professionals who are all liked and respected by those on the circuit (or at least it appears that way)! I have thoroughly enjoyed watching tennis over the past fifteen years plus (women's tennis as well with Serena)!

I find Novak a little hard to cheer for, but Rafa and Roger are top class all the way.

That being said,Djokovic's results speak for themselves.

My argument against Fed is that he made his hay before the other 2 had come into their primes. I totally agree they are all amazing to watch.

Initially I felt the same way but then the more I hear other players talk about him (even those on the women's circuit) it seems as though he is really well liked by the players so I give that some credence. Hopefully the new "wave" of players are passionate and entertaining to watch but no way do I hold any future waves of players to the standards set by these 3...just too impressive to put that on any one or group of players!

While the timing of that is hard to argue...you could also argue that when Fed came on...he absolutely ended the "hopes" for Roddick and those like him...that group just couldn't compete with him! Fed was that good!

Djokovic's win over Nadal was a huge step for him becoming the GOAT, especially if he beats Tsitsipas in the final. Federer is likely done winning grand slams, but might have one last run in him at Wimbledon. Nadal's best chance by far is the French, and Djokovic just took one away. It wouldn't be surprising if he never wins another grand slam either. Djokovic is a year younger and can still win on every surface. He'll be a pretty big favorite at Wimbledon and the U.S. Open this year, and probably the favorite in 3 or 4 of the grand slams next year if he stays healthy.

I know there's not many tennis fans on here, but I hope people appreciate that we've gotten to watch the 3 best tennis players of all time over the last 17 years.

In my opinion, if Djokovic ends up with the most grand slams, he is the greatest of all time, and there shouldn't be much debate. He will have a winning record against Nadal and Federer, and will have at won every major at least twice if he wins Sunday.

It's a little depressing knowing those guys will be gone soon.

Serena with 23, in what I would consider an overall better division over the course of the 23, makes me consider her the GOAT.

The Men's tour with the big 3 has just been too top heavy for me to say that any one of them has been more impressive than her.

Novak really is a good dude, he just kind of comes off as a ****.

Love Medvedev, Sasha, Shapalov, Thiem and others, but the Big 3 are still heads and shoulders above them and to do it at their advanced ages is even more unbelievable.

I strongly agree with both statements! Serena's dominance sometimes made the field seem "not so impressive" but a big part of that feeling was because she was simply that great!

He was still beating some really good players like Roddick and Murray and he did beat Rafa as recently as 2017 for a major. Guy is also a complete ambassador for the sport.

Serena had a lot of wins against Venus, but also beat some really good players over the years.

This is a quote that you might not hear too many professional athletes make this day in age...Nadal is awesome:

"That's more favorable for him, the conditions,'' Nadal said. "By the way, doesn't matter. That's tennis. The player who gets used to the conditions better is the player who deserves to win. So no doubt, he deserved to win.''
