My Bucket list

Checking off another wish today. Going to Yankee stadium to watch a game in person there. NYC and all the sights, Broadway play and Statue of Liberty. NYC is a true melting pot with every language and every nationality, and not the dangers that are portrayed.:p

I’ve only been once. Went with my parents to see the bowl game. My dad, at that time a 65 year old Iowa farmer loved NYC and said if he were 40 years younger he could see himself moving there.

we usually go new years day.... everything is very clean after the celebration...

also we hit up Carmines and i have too much sangria and pasta... can usually make a nice nap out of the second half of a broadway show.

We went 5-6 years ago and visited a bunch of the sites but didn’t have time for the Intrepid Sea Air Space Museum. My old man served on it so a return trip will happen someday. We also won’t drive into the city next time and spend way too much time sitting in traffic.

The wife, daughter, and I went there in 2017 and had a great time. The most memorable thing we saw though was the Twin Towers memorial. I was emotionally awestruck just standing there, realizing the catastrophe that took place on that very spot and seeing all of the names of lives that were lost.

Definitely a great place to visit. First time there was floating up there for Fleet Week in May of 1997. Pulled in right next to the Intrepid. NYC treated us WELL while we were there!

One of the cooler pictures that I have was from the flight deck as we transited up the Hudson. Statue of Liberty was on the left, Manhattan skyline (WTC in full view and dominating the skyline)on the right.

I make it to NYC a couple times per year for work. There's no city like it in the US.

A couple tips for you or others:
-The M Social observation deck bar is a great way to see Times Square, otherwise, I'd personally just skip Times Square. They sometimes have special events but if they don't, it's open to the public and reasonably priced.

-Ess-a-bagel has good NY bagels

-I always try to get a walk in either Central Park or the High Line, cool relaxing places surrounded by the city.

Got to go to a Yankees on the lower bowl, behind the third base dugout courtesy of a vendor about 8 yrs ago. Cool stadium.

Of course, in true New York fashion my manager accidentally bumped into a guy, causing the beer at the guys feet (he was standing in the concourse with his beer on the ground for some reason) to spill. This guy immediately gets in my managers face about it, which causes my mgr to return the favor, then go to his seat and ignore the guy. We proceeded to get heckled by this guy from about 15 rows behind us for a solid 3-4 innings before security finally came and escorted him (and his early teens kid) away. Classic NYC. My mgr was actually going to buy him a new beer initially until the guy got in his face about it.

I would just say skip Times Square in general but that’s me. Make sure you grab some pizza from somewhere awesome as well.

Also I’m this weather a ferry boat tour is an awesome idea. Some really great food and drinks served there as well and gives you a unique view of the city. Really great of you start to get overwhelmed by the crowds
