Took me a while to settle on a topic for this week.

I went with this one.

What are some of your favorite songs or albums released during the year of your birth?

I am a proud product of 1979, despite the rampant disco craze at the time.

For album, the best by far would have to be:
Pink Floyd - The Wall

Coming in second for me would be Reggatte de Blanc by The Police which features Message in a Bottle, Walking on the Moon, and The Bed's Too Big Without You.
I also have to give honorable mention to The Clash - London Calling and The Cars - Candy O

As far as Billboard Top 100 singles, the pickings are kind of slim, with disco and other saccharine pop filling the airways.

My Sharona by The Knack is pretty solid tune, but my favorites from that year would be Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits and Renegade by Styx.

Top 3 from what I can see for me:

1988

Buenas Noches from a Lonely Room - Dwight Yoakam
Straight Outta Compton - NWA
...And Justice for All - Metallica

I understand that I'm old now, and I own it.

If you're "old," I'm "dead." ;)

It wasn't even the "album era" the year I was born. I'd probably go with a tie between "Meet the Beatles" and "A Hard Day's Night," it'd be even better if you could combine best parts of each album.

edit: I'll post individual songs from that year, later.

So a Beatles greatest hits album? It would never work.

'79 for me, too. I'll take Damn the Torpedoes by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and Off the Wall by Michael Jackson. For singles, I don't know. That was a lean year.

Well you could go with this one:

Yeah, but I was trying not to double dip and pick something off the albums I had already mentioned. I'm not a big Pink Floyd fan. Even Dylan's Slow Train coming doesn't do much for me. We missed Bruce Springsteen's The River by one year.
